And now we wait

Roger was trying not to be late. He'd spent at least half an hour the night before promising his girls that he'd be able to pick them up from day care and that he'd actually be on time this time. It might not always be his fault when practice ran over as they got closer to matches or other events, but it was hard to explain that to the bright, betrayed brown eyes of a five-year-old and clear, disappointed blue eyes of an eight-year-old.

He couldn't send Kellie or Kiki in for this one. At least for this week, Roger had to make sure he pulled this off.

He'd apparated as close as they were allowed and was running almost before he turned up, skidding to a halt in the lobby of Little Friends Daycare. Roger took a deep breath to steady himself and shoved his sunglasses up, glad for the quick run making him forget he'd forgotten his coat and would have to justify that when he made the girls put on theirs.

It was about then that he did realize he'd managed to be early for a change and sagged against the abandoned check in counter with relief before glancing around at any of the other parents, nannies, etc.
