Lost: Beginning of the End and Confirmed Dead Spoiler Ramblin'...
Lost ramblin' behind the cut...
Only 5 episodes left in the truncated 2008 Season and so far we have a lot of answers and still many questions…
We know 6 people get off the Island. We can presume it’s: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Jack’s Dad (yep, alive in Season 3 season finale and he’s the one in the cabin) and two other people.
What happened to everyone else? Because everyone else, Oceanic Lawyers/Dharma Operatives included want to know. That is the giant carrot attached to the long pole that ends in 2010.
What we know is this: Dharma HQ managed to track down a jumbo jetliner, repaint it in Oceanic paint scheme, pile fake bodies into it and then crashed it so rescue crews would not find the island. If this process sounds vaguely familiar to the movie Millennium then give yourself a cookie. The finding of said wreckage comes to no surprise since Naomi already spilled the beans last season when our plucky heroes rescued her last season.
The salvage crew attempt was probably hastened due to the Hatch going boom and thus sending out a signal to those listening saying: Guess what! We’re right here! C’mon down! Smoke Monsters and Polar Bears for everyone!
Penny Widmore appears to be several steps behind Dharma HQ since she didn’t even know about the boat. We can assume they are en route.
All of this leads back to Ben and Hostiles. Remember, Ben orchestrated a bloodless coup against his father and the Dharma Crew a few years back. The painting on the inside door of the hatch reveals as much. And, for all intense purposes continued to send back regular reports to HQ. The food drops continued. The supplies continued (remember Juliet’s CD collection). Even the insertion and extraction of new Dharma Employees like Juliet continued. And, it appears the Hostiles even continued to small extent. I think we can pretty much all agree the Hostiles were rats in a maze and the rats revolted.
The Hazmat Gear on the Helicopter harkens back to when Desmond was picked up off the beach by Kelvin and dragged into the hatch and Rousseau’s warning to Sayid about people getting sick alllllll the waaaaay back in Season 1. Was there a containment breach? Or is this to make sure the rats don’t leave the maze?
The Polar Bear Dig on Tatooine, I mean, Tunisia with the Dharma Collar. Remember that conversation Ben had with Locke about bringing Locke’s father to the island via a box of some sort? What happens if the box worked the other way? Time Displacement Device ala Terminator? Maybe? Test it on the Polar Bears first and see what happens? Maybe Jacob got unstuck in time?
Jack’s Dad. Yep, he’s alive. Check out the LOST Mobisodes. He’s in the cabin. Is he Jacob? Did he replace Jacob? And, just where the heck has he been for the last 92 days.
The Smoke Monster aka Cerberus aka the Defense System. He appears to be on strike with the WGA. Maybe he’ll show up this season. Maybe his understudy will instead. General Consensus is: Ben, Juliet and The Others knows what is it and aren’t letting on. As for why it appears to be, taking dead people forms is up for debate. Personally, I say sentient nanobots or nanites. Only thing that makes sense with Locke’s injuries getting “healed”.
Spooky Mister Abddon appears to be the mouthpiece for Dharma HQ having chosen the team members for Naomi and talked to Hurley.
