Quietly, Fate listened. That sounded terrible, really terrible. How could he convince Albel that he wasn't going to go away just because the other wished it? How could he show him that he wasn't going to leave? "Albel..." he murmured. His other hand lifted to cup the side of his lover's face. Had he done that selfishly, or to protect Fate? Well, if he'd truly wanted Fate to leave... wouldn't he have vanished?

Fate pressed a soft kiss to his cheek, leaning against Albel for a moment as he considered his words. It sounded like Albel thought everything happening was his fault. Saying the wrong thing now would be stupid. "It's not your fault, you know." Fate's voice was soft. He shouldn't have been wandering around drunk. The driver should have been paying more attention. Albel didn't enter into it at all. "Things happen. People get hurt. But the actions of others aren't your responsibility."

He sighed, voice dropping further as he looked up at Albel again, asking a question that scared him. "If you wanted me to go, I don't think you'd be here. It doesn't matter why you're doing it, Albel, I'm not going to leave you so easily." Fate couldn't help the way he felt. He'd tried so hard, so desperately not to fall--it had taken a long to accept the feelings he had for the other. "I love you. I'm not going anywhere." Couldn't Albel understand that?
