Managed to unlock all 58 songs playing guitar on hard in two nights. I didn't quite play them all, though. I got stuck on Green Grass and High Tides. I'd get 81% in, then get to a part that has you fretting red every beat and a half, with a quick yellow hammer-on. For some reason, I have the hardest time both making the beat-and-a-half timing and hammering-on. I failed like three times at 81%. Those who have played the game or know the song may know a little more about why this is frustrating. The song is 9 minutes, 46 seconds long. So I play through 8 minutes, just to end up failing. If I could just hold out a bit longer, I think I could make it through the tricky spot and start winning the crowd back. Bleh.
But, yeah, all unlocked; also impressed myself getting through some of those songs. There were a few I'd only played on medium, or have never played at all.
Disappointed to find that the tutorials for drumming stops at intermediate. "And that's all there is to know about drumming!" Like hell! How the fuck do I separate my feet from my hands so I can do those in-between bass-kicks. Drives me nuts. I spent like half an hour in practice mode trying to get the drumming for Detroit Rock City down. I can do it at 90% speed, but once I get it to 100%, it's just too hard. :-/
Excited to start checking out some of the downloadable tracks. War Pigs; fuck yeah!
Edit: For those who have no idea what the hell I'm talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxkJ5K5DsnU That's a video of someone playing Green Grass and High Tides on hard. The column each represent a fret button, which you can press with impunity. The trick is that when those beads cross the line at the bottom, you have to use the strum bar and be fretting just those buttons (with some exceptions that I'm not going into).
The guy in the video is, I think, a little less skilled than me in some ways, but he does manage to pass the part I can't get past, which occurs at 8:16 in the video. Also, he hits the buttons really loudly. :x
No one has a video of Detroit Rock City with hard drums on youtube, so here's Welcome Home on hard which has similar "extra" bass beats The main riff starts at 1:00, the extras I'm talking about are where it gets slightly faster and the bass kick doubles up. I can't quite get my hands and feet to not both hit when one or the other is needed.
Oh, and the controls for the drums are simply four columns for four drums, hit as they cross the line. The orange line is the bass kick.
