Weekend Followup

Mar 05, 2007 18:03

Following up from Saturday evening, we had a house meeting, which included admitting our newest members, dsrphoenix and xora_reyn, which brings us up to seven. We also discussed the estates agenda and our plans as a house. We also reapproved the current depiction of our heraldry, which is sometimes lovingly referred to as "the gyno view".

Drove dsrphoenix and xora_reyn home, then went home to crash and wake up early to be at Cagar and Aoife's by 9 to roll out to Sangreal.

We actually didn't even get close to leaving at 9. We were tired and hungry and decided to have breakfast first. I went with Logan and Aurora, but we got lost with their GPS. It sent us way to the other side of Temecula in wine country. We called Cagar and got back on track, but we didn't get there until like 11:30. Fortunately, we weren't the only ones late and we were still in time for opening court. (Yay for Adrian Time).

Shinai was a knight's list tournament fought on a bridge which was plywood on 4x4s; no one thought to nail the plywood down, so we had the fun experience of fighting on a sliding bridge.

Ren was fought on the playground equipment, and this was immense fun. We decided on a round-robin, full rounds (best 2 of 3 for each). So, we all fought at least 18 times, not to mention doubling. I beat five of the nine combatants I faced, including Sir Coda. I doubled Sir Jamie (Not jamiethered; perhaps MacDonald?) over and over again. Eventually they made us fight with gauche only. We doubled a few more times. It wasn't until they threatened to make us fight off-hand as well that he finally beat me.

Just when I was ready to fall over we finished and went back up to eat. We'd missed lunch by two hours, but they saved plenty for us. The archery shoot was actually done with darts, presumably because of the windy conditions. (Hey, Aquitaine can shoot in the wind, why not Sangrael?) I'm still unsure how that counts for points. I think I got gypped out of a stuffed bear, because the lady in charge of the "shoot" kept forgetting that I'm still on Bowman's List. Oh, well.

Went back down to help HRM with his armor, then assisted Sir Logan with marshalling. It was during the final round that Cagar's leg armor popped, causing him to do an odd spinny fall thing. When I heard him say "Oh, shit" going down, I knew this wasn't an ordinary fall. He didn't move right away, and it was about half an hour before Aurora (a nurse) and a guy whose name I can't remember (an EMT) let him even sit up, which made getting his armor off to check his back (which is where he claimed to be hurting) somewhat difficult. Eventually they checked him out though, minor swelling. He was able to walk back up the hill with assistance. We're all under instruction to not let him fight for a while!

Went to dinner after, then went back home to pass the hell out. A seriously fun, but seriously tiring and, at the end, stressful day.
