Wed was a fun day where I spent all day learning how to work our self-check out kiosk for 8 hours. In the midst of our dinner rush, 2 of my 6 self-check out registers were down, someone needed 8-10 things voided and despite what I was told by the person who trained me, sometimes you need to stay behind the desk station and just add in people's produce FOR them. I'm running it mostly on my own Friday and Saturday. It's not hard so much as an adjustment. I have to learn where everything is on a new keyboard and basically make sure 6 registers are doing what they need to do at one time. My only struggle with it all is that I am def. the type of learner who gets things better by reading/writing them down and then going for practical application.
I also used the CoinStar machine for the first time. It was lovely and easy and now I am going through the house collecting loose change. I figure I'll hit it up once every 2-3 months. But yeah, I have to admit that my Grandpa and his obsession with good deals and the whole "change is real money" is finally starting to sink in and make sense. Though I still think driving 2 miles out of your way b/c the bread at a store is "a damn good deal" is crazy, I'm not going to argue with someone who lived through the Depression.
In tv watching news: I'm excited to see Grimm, I still have to watch Once Upon A Time and the only shows I am watching every week are Homeland, NCIS and Prime Suspect. Also, everyone should watch Prime Suspect. There is a new episode tonight, 10pm EST on NBC. Yes, it is a cop show, but it's with great characters and snappy writing and a talented cast.
In other news:
Family and Family Friends will be arriving soon for Andrew's wedding. I haven't seen some of these people in at least ten years. My half-brother is also supposed to be coming. I think I was in middle school the last time I saw him. (That was a loooong time ago.) Still have no clue what I'll be wearing to said wedding, but neither does my mom so it works, I guess? I am in charge of family pictures though, since mom can never remember her camera.
Halloween is only a few days away. Sort of creeped up this year. Still, so very excited. I am hoping it will actually still be chilly outside. We're supposed to get very cold (for us) this weekend and I'm so excited b/c it might just be cold enough for me to wear a sweater. (I adore my fall and winter clothes, it's just not often that it gets cold enough in CLT for me to wear them.)
