So, I DID get all my requested time off cleared for Animazement. Now, granted, my punishment is that the day after I get home, I'm working the 6am-2pm shift, but hey, they gave me four straight days off, two of those days being the days we get utterly slammed, so I'm not going to bitch too much. It's just a REALLY good thing I don't have issues with sleeping on trains.
I just cannot believe I get to see Aspen and Holley in 6 days. That's really the main reason I'm going, since I'm so very out of the loop in terms of anime/manga. I supposed that will be a good thing once I hit the Dealer's Room, though I do need a cell phone strap. Possibly an artbook. I do want to buy some of the con's charity merchandise this year, since 100% of the proceeds are going to Japan.
I have the whole weekend off, which means I am going to do my best to break out of this godforsaken writer's block and finish up all the small ficlets. Two were posted over at
larks_still_fly but I have about 4-5 to go.
In tv-ish news.
The History Channel is running these ads for one of its new shows on Gettysburg. They are using Placebo's cover of Running Up That Hill in the tv ad. This amuses me to no end.
Gettysburg starts on May 30th.
Also, right now Dr. Bill Bass is on my tv for some true crime thing. It's been ages since I've read Death's Acre, but everytime I see or think about that man I break out into a wide smile. My Forensic Anthro prof studied under him, and she pretty much confirmed that he was one awesome academic of a man. She made Death's Acre required reading and I completely agree that anyone interested in forensics and anthropology needs to read that book. Out of all the "real CSI" memoirs/books around, it remains one of the best IMO. I still have yet to read the fiction series his stories co-author, but they are on my list.
