So, PBS is currently re-playing Ken Burns' The Tenth Inning which is basically a sequel to his amazing 1994 Baseball documentary. So, true story about me: Baseball documentaries always warm my heart and make me have a good cry. I sob like a baby EVERY single time I hear Lou Gehrig's speech, which, growing up a born-and-bred Yankees fans, means I've heard it a lot throughout my life.
Baseball is my favorite sport to watch. I love it, with all my heart. I've never talked about it much on my journal since it's just such a normal part of my life. Kind of like how I only mention my brother in passing. I love the feeling the game gives me when I watch, it's sounds are soothing to me. I consider it an honor that I got to watch a Red Sox-Yankees game at Fenway (and the Yankees won). I honestly miss living in the Boston area, where everyone brimmed over with excitment for Spring Training and the start of the season. The closest we get to pro baseball in CLT is the Braves, and, well, these days we best just leave that there.
And as much as I love Ken Burns, and everything he creates, HBO's When It Was A Game series will forever remain my most favorite of all baseball films/docus of all time.
Spring like weather is here in CLT, baseball is starting to document the sports news, and I just felt the need to share that.
Also, as sports movie go, with the exception of The Mighty Ducks, Remember The Titans, and Miracle (DAMN YOU, DISNEY), my favorites are always baseball related. God, I think it's time for a Bull Durham re-watch.
In Carrie News: The dailysis has taken off over 11lbs of fluid and waste. They're slowing it down a bit, but still, holy shit, something's working.
I actually got to visit her the other day. She was upset, pissed off, but anyone else would be in that position. They'd just put her on some pain killers, but just when we were getting ready to leave she came out of it. We got to interact with her, to see her smile, even around the breathing tube in her mouth, and I am just so happy to have seen that.
In fandom news: I seriously want a White Collar spin-off of Keller being the evil smug bastard that he is. Ross McCall does a great job in the role.
Out of boredom and needing to distract myself, I've started watching The Amazing Race and ANTM again. This can only lead to bad things.
