A small tidbit of decent news
After spending 6 days trying everything else in the world to get Carrie's kidneys working again, they finally started dialysis today. She's in the middle of her first 6 hour session, and they've basically already pumped out what equals to 5lbs of fluid and waste. So, you know, that's pretty damn awesome. I mean, I had dialysis when I was, like, 4 hours old so I remember nothing of it, I just have this huge freakin' scars, but hey, it's another thing for Carrie and I to share.
Now, granted, she's spiked a high fever again but she's fighting off god knows how many nasty infections, that's not really a surprise.
Still, I am very grateful that something is at least, working, for now, to get all that fluid out.
She's still hacking up stuff, still sedated, still going on a battle for her life, but the doctors/nurses/Mom everyone are doing all they can.
