Oh wow, I'm sort of fascinated by that Civil War show. It's a period of history I really don't know anything near enough about but would love to know more of - and, well, if they actually succeed in getting Damian Lewis, Richard Speight Jr., Jason O'Mara and POWERS FUCKING BOOTHE (that name. that 'tache.), well, I'm just going to have to watch it.
Though it somehow feels too good to be true right now. Maybe I just expect a big-budget historical drama to have a more professional-looking website.

Also, ugh, I hear you on fic indecision. I have so many WIPs going right now and I can't focus on any of them. (Open in WordPad right now? Haldane/Sledge PWP, which is actually proving incredibly difficult to write. I have a suspicion the next draft of this is going to bear very little resemblance to this one.)

Growing up in NC, the Civil War is always kind of there but I actually know little about it, since I moved to the state from New York in the year when we start studying the Civil War. Being one of two "Yankees" in the room, and being singled out by the teachers as such, really made me pull back from the subject for YEARS. I am finally starting to get back into it ( ... )

Damn, I can imagine that being terribly awkward. Amazing how old divides still linger. (I was going to make some vague comment about how that really isn't the same case with the English Civil War, but duh, that happened centuries earlier, that's why. ...though then again, Yorkshire and Lancashire still have a bit of a rivalry, and the Wars of the Roses were even longer ago. And weren't really originally anything to do with the counties anyway.)

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it on IMDB. It does seem like the kind of project Richard Speight Jr. would do - that guy likes any excuse to grow a big-ass moustache - but yeah, it seems like too high-profile a cast to really be true. We'll have to wait and see.

...I think this fic's gonna be a while coming, it's not exactly flowing well right now. But I'm chipping away at lots of things, one piece at a time. I suppose it's better when we have lots of ideas and it's hard to focus, rather than having no ideas at all.

The worst was when I first moved down here and they tried to make me sing the "I'm a Tarheel born, I'm a Tarheel bread" song. Even at 9 1/2, I was not having that shit.

It does amaze me how all the old conflicts linger.

I def. think, of the actors on the wishlist, Richard Speight Jr. is highly likely. From what I've been able to suss out, it's going to be 8 episdoes. Who knows? I won't get super-excited until shooting starts.

The worst was when I was in an 8th Grade NC History class full of 12 students. I was the only one NOT from NC and my teacher was one of those who had a Confederate Flag bumpersticker. Can we say awkward?

And YES on the Haldane/Chamberlain. And it's all b/c crossovers are wonderful and full of joy.
