When mods from fic-comms start defending genocide appropriaton, you know it's time to step back from that fandom for a bit. Granted, I know it's a comm populated by generally less-sensitive, less-thought provking members of the fandom, but still, damn. Way to show lack of respect for pretty much everything and abusing points of authority. And no, "it's fictional, we write stories!" is not a proper defense. The stories, much like the world, do not exist in a vacuum. You playce a story, ficitional or not, in an actual historical event, yes, you need to know the history and you need to respect it. You can't handwave it away. Just, gah, I'm stopping now. And the general lack of reaction from the fandom is also making me a little sick. So yeah, me, that fandom, we're on a break.
In a fit of nostaglia last night, I dug out the boxes with my Harry Potter books and started re-reading them all. What can I say, it's July. This, of course, has also led to re-reading HP-fic, b/c part of my fandom heart will always belong to Remus and Sirius.
I honestly think I'm starting to hit the border of heat exhaustion in my little apartment. Or else, I do have an actual fever on top of the omg-hot. Seriously, am counting down the days until Central A/C is mine. I know I'm actually at sleep deprivation, b/c I haven't been sleeping due to the omg-hot! in my place of dwelling.
Week and a day of work left. Eeek. We're still trying to figure out how we're going to pay for everything, how I'm going to pay my bills for the rest of the month and what the hell I'm going to do if I don't get a job ASAP in CLT.
Still, time to go to work now. Here's to hoping I don't fall asleep in my cubicle.
