You know you're far too over-invested in a band when you find out a member and his wife are
expecting twins and the grin on your face is as wide as the Grand Canyon. But, just, Frank and Jamia have been together forever! They are crazy and gleeful and truly MFEO! Also, TWINS! Twins are awesome! I should know, seeing as how I am one. But, seriously, Iero-Nestor babies. They may take over the world.
In other news:
Today was St. Patrick's Day. And let me just say, if you're going to use the phrase "Luck of the Irish," please use it correctly. It does not mean good things. To tell someone, "The luck of the Irish be with you," is pretty much a nice way of saying, "I hope you fall down into the pit of despair and rot and die." "Luck of the Irish" means Bad Luck. The Irish are not a lucky people. Please, stop using it as it if means good things. Look back on Irish history and, for the love of god, tell me where you see good luck in any of that?
Pub is insane, as per usual. I'm glad I'm not in CLT and don't have to deal with that b.s. I still remember the year my mom had to rush home and use our stove to cook the cornbeef and cabbage b/c the one in the Pub had crapped out. Good times.
So much drama at work today, of which I am sure will follow into tomorrow. It's going to be a shit show and I have a feeling I'm going to be pulled into it, as I was a witness to the event that caused the major drama. Perhaps I can just try and hide in cubicle wasteland all day?
In the various character/'ships fanmixes for Band of Brothers I am working on, I've got to say, the one for Spiers is so much fun to make. He's just so ruthless, and kind of evil, and yet, awesome. I do fangirl Lipton/Speirs and the one song that keeps going through my head is "The Hunter Gets Captured By the Game," but I am debating over using the Massive Attack version or The Marveletts original or Ella Fitzgerlad's version.
I've been in a country-music mood like crazy lately, probably b/c of the sunlight and warmer weather, and now my MP3 player is chock-full of Kenny Chensey, Rascal Flatts, Johnny Cash, Brad Pasiely and a whole bunch of others. Most of them are over-the-top cheesey feel-good songs, but they make me smile and sing along, and we all need happy-making sometimes.
Now to go read
Easy Company Soldier: The Legendary Battles of a Sergeant from World War II's "Band of Brothers" by Sgt. Don Malarkey and Bob Welch. I only have Compton and Webster's books left in the Band of Brothers-memoir-ish collection. It really does fascinate me, from a Public Historian perspective, how different these accounts are based on soldier rank, memory, and place. But those thoughts are for the insane book review post to come.
