Yeah, I am pretty much going to be talking about Supernatural every entry from now until the start of the season on Thursday and, you know, probably a good long while after that too.
The marathon re-watching of these past few days had led me to a few realizations:
-"Faith" will always be my all time favorite SPN episode ever. I admit it is not the best episode overall, but for me, personally, it is the best. It has Reaper-legend, it has a very amazing use of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper" (one of my favorite songs of all time), a well written and well acted episode, and Julie Benz as a guest star. Also when taking into account Roy's comments about God picking Dean to be saved, and Dean's eventual future, it's pretty damn amazing. I do wonder if that was planned.
-I really do adore the Ghostfacers boys (and gal). "Hell House," "Ghostfacers," and "It's A Terrible Life" never fail to crack me up.
-Season Four really is the best season overall. It had a lot of funny episodes, a lot of serious episodes, and a bunch of darkness spread throughout the whole.
-I miss Jo, Ellen, and Missouri.
-We really need an episode of Bobby and Castiel getting together and talking about symbols and mythology.
-Or really just Bobby and Castiel in a scene together, period.
-The show just overflows with pretty. Not just the cast, but the way it's shot and the sets.
-Their blooper reels are made of goodness and sunshine and kittens and rainbows.
-I respect that they are attempting to do what The X-Files did so well, serious one-off episodes, mythology arcs, and funny as hell and out of nowhere episodes.
-I know they had to cut back b/c of the budget, but god, I miss all the classic rock.
-I agree with what someone else once said. Sometimes it seems like the whole of SPN is just one really long fanvid for Kansas' "Wayward Son."
-Though my favorite recap is actually from season one and uses Triumph's "Fight the Good Fight."
-Now that they've done a Christmas and a Halloween episode, I am really hoping for some sort of Thanksgiving episode. I would say Easter but Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey kind of has the best evil!Easter Bunny ever.
-God, Meg was such a kickass character.
-Where in the world do they find jeans long enough for Jared Padalecki to have scuffs and rips on the bottom? It's not like they can drag on the floor. He's too friggin' tall. They must be bought or altered.
-As Stephen King has tried to tell us over and over again, be wary of nice people in small towns. Especially if you are in New England.
-You know you've watched too many shows show in B.C., Canada, when you can be all "Hey, that's the forest from Dead Like Me/SG-1/SGA/X-Files/SPN etc etc etc.

EDIT:
It's only Sept. 7, but I've already used up my frivolous purchase of the month. But they're
boots in a sweater pattern! and buttons! And I saved $40 off the list price! They may become my favorite pair of shoes, though I am pretty sure my Mary Jane B&W Kitty-Cat Creepers will remain my favorite shoes of all time.
These and
these and
these still remain my most longed for shoes, but I refuse to pay that much money. Even for leather combat boots. I am a sales rack kind of gal.
My frivolous purchase of next month will be
Haunted Histories Vol 4 which I would buy now b/c it is such a jaw-dropping good price for history channel dvds, but I'm still holding out hope for a Halloween dvd sale by the start of next month.
