"He balled his fists over the keys and smashed down on them, over and over and over again. The horrible off-key sound filled the room and mingled with the cry he let out."

The image of this was incredibly vivid for me. This entire fic was really well written...but it was definitely a bit painful to read, as I felt rather bad for Wilson.

I really like the subtlety, especially this line: "Sam may have given up on their relationship but for weeks now he’d felt that he already gave up something worth so much more." followed by the image of Wilson pounding frustratedly on the keyboard.

I really enjoyed this, even though it made me a bit sad; I think that's why I liked it though, because there was a relatable frustration.

Thanks. That image was vivid in my mind so I'm glad that you thought that too. :)

It is frustrating, definitely. I would just hope that if Wilson did come to this point that it wouldn't be too late to change things.

Wonderful! I feel so badly for Wilson. Wanting that normal, ideal life which he was never meant to live, selling out the best thing that ever happened to him for an illusion. I could feel his anguish as he beat on the organ--something he bought that said something about himself--that is, how vital House is to him. Now Cuddy has his time and attention and Wilson realizes just how much he sacrificed for a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Beautifully written!

Wilson can't have bought that organ lightly and it was such a poignant moment for them (he had to have known on some level how big a gesture that was, how it could be interpreted) which is why it's so frustrating now because it's as though the writers have taken us in the wrong direction.

Now though I think that if Wilson came to this realisation he might have the chance to change all that. I would like to think so. :)

I know... poor Wilson. He deserves some happiness that lasts. With House of course. ;)

Thanks.

Awwww poor Wilson.

He did move too fast with Sam, I think that is what scared her off (it seemed to weird for it to be just one comment that made her run). Now, if only House would walk in on Wilson banging the organ and tell him to stop taking things out on innocent musical instruments....

Sequel maybe?

Yes I agree. It might have been a build up of things and then he said something to her that gave her the opportunity she was looking for to walk away.

I'm not sure about a sequel. I haven't given much thought to what I would write in the next scene. But Wilson could do with House telling him to go easy on the instrument. :)

Thanks.
