This evening I scurried home and got directly to work on the putty assessment of window 3. Assessment was not positive, so I started chipping it out. This evening I looked at the situation of the other ground floor windows, the most exposed of which will also need reputtying. When I schedule my putty party, I will have 3 windows that need puttying and 2 that need painting, but only one ladder. hmmm...
Next task: wipe down the debris from window 3, wash the casings of the front 2 windows [one is covered in spiders, ick!] and begin removing their putty. One of the windows will need some repair work to the casing, which would explain why it has such a draft!
This stuff ends up being quite an upper body workout, especially when it's overhead and with my left hand. Window 3 seems to be the worst for that, because it's on the outside of a bay where it's difficult to place a ladder with any sort of security. I found myself hanging off the ladder at a variety of weird angles over the edge of the balcony, thinking "a safety plan is having a designated driver to take you to the hospital, right?"
