Apparently, being a dreamer is a genetic trait. heh;) Or so any Irish play would have me believe. Next time, I really should go and spend some proper time with my cousins and really see if there's any truth to that...
Well, I'm home again and successfully fighting off the sadness I feared might sneak back in. Changed, hopefully for the better. I miss everything about London, but I am happy to see my family again, to hold my babies. Still, I have arrived back to my little vaccum... that inbetween space where I eat, sleep, dream and wait to act. I am ready to graduate... I love learning but school lends itself to a sort of passivity. I want to break away from the routine I'd followed so effortlessly before. I want to develop skills other than analyzing literature with a concise thesis, well developed body paragraphs and an encompassing conclusion. I want to do and see new things. I want to continue to seek my independence and belief in myself.
But for all of my exhaustion with school, I do have two classes that I think are really fantastic. Jane Austen Lit and Film and Dante's Inferno. Anyone ever read the latter? Fascinating stuff. My professor is incredibly intelligent-- he's often giving us the Latin base of a word and its meaning. First day, he scared me a bit, but as I'm reading the text, he's become quite comprehensible.
It's been so cold here... my feet are perpetually numb. For the first time this week the sky has lost it's nightly pink haze. I hate dealing with snow, hate feeling trapped in the house even if I don't have anywhere in particular to go... but I do love looking at it. I love the icicles on the trees, gives the dead branches a strange life... I love how the pink haze allows me sight in a lightless house. Such a surreal quality that makes me feel like I'm in an entirely different world.
Oh, another thing I missed in London? Stars. I'd see one or two every once in a while, but when I came home, I immediately realized I hadn't seen a constellation in months. The last full moon we had seemed a hundred times brighter than I remembered. The shadows it cast seemed deeper lighting everything as I walked to my door. Beautiful.
I just need to get through these two semesters and start to really think about what I want... I have a few dreams that need to be sorted through... I know there won't be any definite answers or directions. New Zealand, Amnesty, Seamstress;) My unconscious mind is really pushing for a boyfriend lately, which I am not even going to deal with in reality at the moment. Enough of that madness for awhile. My sister's unconscious mind has me going to New York, meeting a boy and getting married a week later. Prophetic? Only God knows;)
