I LIIIIIIIIVE!!! (Again! XD)
Hi, everybody! ^^ Greetings from Texas!
Welp, sorry I've been off the radar for a while; I've updated my Facebook a little, for those of you who have one. Anyhoo! I am settling in. I actually got a ministry placement (my 'job', you could say) in a spot that only 4 people were picked to work at! Isn't that mind-boggling? Lol, I was stunned out of my seat when they announced it, esp. because I didn't even know they were giving out that job! XD I work in the office of the Center for Creative Media, an alternate 2-year program on the Teen Mania campus that teaches the students about producing movies and videos and all that media stuff. Ya know what's really crazy? Out of the 4 interns picked to work there, I was the only one given the one job opening that didn't involve talking to people on phones! :D I was so relieved I didn't get a phone job, esp. after I botched the practice phone interview. XD I'm helping with 'logistics'; basically, I am in charge of coding American Express expenses, and I also help with whatever my manager and surpervisor need help with. I got to organize the suply closet! :D This was actually right up my ally, and everyone was really pleased with the job I did. ^^ But that's enough on that for now. I don't want to bore you with minute details, lol!
Campus is pretty cool. We have a swimming pool with 2 water slides! :D I went swimming for, like, 2 hours yesterday. Some of the guys had a football and were throwing it up on the slide for people to try and catch on the way down. XD It was way awesome. Interestingly enough, there are quite a few people from Ohio here! I've met some real cool people. We have a 3-day weekend this weekend because of Labor Day, so that's real nice. ^^ I've managed to do some writing, and I bought a new book today. I also drew this REALLY cool dinosaur creature, and a lovely little bird, in one of my journals during the first week. ^^; Just to assure everybody that I am not neglecting my creativity here! Really, everyone is very encouraging. I miss home (and all of you guys!) a lot, but I'm doing okay. I've talked to my parents several times, so it's nice to feel like I'm still staying in touch with home. :)
Well, that's enough news for now! Just FYI, we're in a period called Orange Block right now: during the first 4 weeks (I think this is the end of the second :D), we have to follow certain restrictions. One of them is that I can't reply to blog comments until after Orange Block, so if you guys want to talk, please e-mail me, and you know I'll love to talk to you that way! :D I'm also not allowed sugar more than one day a week. Despite this obviously being very healthy for me, it is not the easiest thing in the world. ^^; I had my sugar day yesterday; snarfed all the rest of my candy and bought a pop out of the machine in the cafeteria. XD
