This was ... different. Spike was pretty sure it was the damsel-in-distress sorts that got kidnapped. Not him. With a lit cigarette dangling from his lower lip, the vampire strolled down the hall of the barracks.

He caught sight of the girl and offered her a slight nod as he studied her. She was ... new to DauphinMare, formerly of Riverfell and apparently right back in Riverfell.

Fascinating. "So, little bit. Back home again?" he inquired as he quirked a pale brow, absently flicking ashes off the end of his cigarette.

Lizzy's eyes grew big, and wide, and welled up with tears and she let out a soft wail and started to cry again, throwing herself forward and attempting to attach herself to Spike's leg. She didn't know who he was, but she was pretty sure that he was from DauphinMare originally, and she really really wanted to be back there right now, because she was scared that she was going to be in trouble for leaving in the first place.

"I just... want... to go.. baaaaaack!" she sniffled. "I did - didn't want to be h-here in the f-f-fiiiiirst place!"

Surely, he was here to take her back, right? He hadn't switched sides as well?

Oh, christ. Spike resisted the urge to try to shake her off his leg, though it was a close thing. "Don't think we can go back, bit," he said. Dropping the cigarette, he ground it out with his heel before he reached down to scoop Lizzy up into his arms. Oh, he recognized her all right. One of the recent traitors, as it were.

"So you know this place, right? You were here for a bit, yeah? Where's a good place to spend the day?" he inquired. No, he didn't do well with crying kids, but he couldn't imagine anyone else here did, either - and other people might kill her.

She had her eyes closed, and was clinging tightly to his leg, sniffling, and was surprised when she found herself suddenly airborn. She squirmed a bit in an attempt to get loose at first, thinking he was trying to hurt her, but settled when she realized - or assumed, really - that he was just trying to comfort her. She managed to calm herself down to sniffles just as abruptly as the sobbing had come one, snuggling her head into the crook of his neck and resting her head on his shoulder.

He wasn't Saul - Saul was warmer - but at least he was being friendly. And he was from DauphinMare, though... not taking her back there. She blinked, and sniffled a bit, wiping a bit at her eyes with her fingers.

"You're not... taking me b-back?" she sniffled, confused more than anything. But she did think about his question. "I used to... to spend time in the gr-greenhouse," she said, sniffing a bit still. "But Dora says that it's hers. She's wrong though - it's mine and Daisie's ( ... )

"I would if I could," he assured her. "I just don't think it's in the cards for us just yet. We might have to stick it out 'til tonight," he said as he started to walk with her toward the door. She didn't weigh much, really - to him, anyway - so it was no trouble to carry her.

"Greenhouse, then. We'll go see what we can find in there, yeah? Maybe we'll find this Daisie girl, too." Though if she was still in Riverfell, Spike wasn't completely sure he wanted to find her.

No matter. He was here, either way, and he'd stick it out as well as he could.

Lizzy rubbed at her eyes as though she was sleeping, sniffed a final time and nodded her head a bit. "It's... um..." she gestured with an arm when they were outside which direction she thought she remembered the greenhouse was in. "That way," she said. "Daisie might be there. That'd be neat. She didn't... didn't want to come over to DauphinMare, I guess. But I think Ice asked her... we told her to ask her, anyway."

She paused, suddenly curious. "Were you here to start too?" she asked Spike. Maybe they were just pulling back all the people who had defected. Maybe Saul was around here somewhere, but they'd just been separated because of the side swap? That was... better, wasn't it?

He shook his head. "I started out on the other side," he assured her. Once they were outside, he set her down so she could lead wherever they were headed. His eyes skipped over the surroundings before he buried his hands into his pockets.

Spike was still a little confused on the why - why was he here. Why were any of them here. Not that it really mattered why ... the fact remained that he was here. And so was she.

Lizzy slid down when he started to drop her, blinking a bit in the light outside - even if it was more minimal than she'd gotten used to in DauphinMare. God, this place was even duller than she remembered it being. She whimpered slightly. Couldn't the Powers That Be see that she wasn't happy here and... send her back?

Instinctively, she reached for his hand - but she wouldn't notice if he withdrew it, and looked around before she started moving in the direction of the greenhouse.

She frowned a bit though, when he said that he'd started out on the other side. That... didn't make any sense with the theory that she was spinning. Maybe they were recalling people who had switched sides, as well as those who thought they might want to?

"But... did you want to come over here?" she asked Spike. "I mean, why did they bring us over here?" she paused, and frowned a bit. "What's your name?"

Spike took her hand after a brief hesitation, glancing down at the whimper. He followed after her, glancing around as they walked. "Thought about coming over a time or two, yeah," he admitted honestly. "But I decided in the end, wasn't who I was anymore. Dunno why they brought us," he admitted.

His gaze lingered briefly on the building that held the TV; he could hear it faintly, even through the walls and door, but he let that go. Later, he could go hang out in there.

Though that made him wonder ... would the DauphinMarians somehow find a location to converge on? Or would they try to simply stay hidden. He supposed it depended on the person. If folk like Chase were here, they'd probably be out and about. People like Jaime on the other hand ... well, they'd likely be hiding.

"I'm Spike," he answered belatedly. "What about you, pet?"

"Spike," she echoed, and frowned slightly. She didn't think that was much of a name. Maybe it was a nickname, or something that he had chosen. She shrugged her shoulders. Who was she to judge, really? "I'm Lizzy," she told him. "I can make people do things by just telling them," she added, sharing unbidden, more bragging than anything. Though it did make her curious about him. "What can you do?"

She did wonder if they should... attempt to locate more of the people from DauphinMare, if there were any. Or maybe they should wait for someone to realize they had made a mistake and call them back. Or maybe they should try to talk to the people in charge and tell them...

Oh no wait. Then she might get in trouble for leaving in the first place. Forget THAT plan. But the grouping together sounded vaguely like a good idea. Maybe she'd see what Spike thought after they checked the greenhouse for Daisie.

"Just a vampire, love. Nothin' special, compared to what I've seen." He did wonder a bit at her power, but he had no desire, at all, to ask her for a demonstration.

"Nice to meet you, Lizzy," he replied, again belated, but his thoughts were all over the place.

Once he saw the greenhouse, he started over there with her - but even from here he could tell it was empty. Or contained a vampire. Either way, there were no heartbeats inside.

Lizzy felt a shiver run down her spine. A vampire. But he hadn't tried to attack her or suck her blood yet, so she had to reason that he wasn't going to any time soon, and licked her lips absently, continuing to move toward the greenhouse, not realizing there was no one inside yet.

"Are you... one of the sparkly kind?" Lizzy asked curiously, peering at Spike. He didn't strike her as a sparkly kind, but then - there wasn't a lot of sun here. Maybe he did sparkle.

House was hobbling along the grounds, figuring that he'd made the right call when he'd opted to stay in the other illusion. He'd opted to stay in the other illusion, right?

Huh. Maybe he hadn't.

He spotted two kids moving toward a building, wondered if he recognized them, wondered if he cared, and started hobbling in their direction. "Hey!" he called out as he approached. "Hey, you have any ETA on when this stupid dream is going to end? Because I've got patients to diagnoses, you know. Can't be just sitting around all day sleeping." Lizzy peered up in confusion at the ( ... )

Spike paused, because it was politely, and while they waited for the man to approach, he answered Lizzy's question. "Not one of the sparkly ones, no. Bit of a joke, those sorts are. Not proper vampires at all, really."

He nodded to the man's question. "Midnight, mate. So the story goes at any rate. That's the usual sort of plan." He rested a hand lightly on Lizzy's head when she hid behind him. "'less you're from here to begin with, in which case, it won't end for you."

He thought he recognized the man from DauphinMare, though he'd never met him - and it could just as easily be a body double.

Lizzy managed to stick her head out a bit from behind Spike's leg, glaring at House.

"You're not sleeping," she accused. "This isn't a dream."

House rolled his eyes, brandishing his cane at the young toddler, and looked up at Spike in a way that suggested he thought Spike should have more control over the kid, as her apparent guardian before turning his head back to address the kid. He'd have knelt down if it didn't hurt so much, since he'd been unable to find a MedLab to steal vicodin from so far, so his leg was hurting him more than usual ( ... )

"Right, mate, I've got no idea what you're on about," Spike said, bleached brows arching a little. He absently shifted a little so he was more squarely between Lizzy and the man with the cane.

"I'm glad you solved your ... whatever you were working on, but we're from DauphinMare as well. Been transported over to the other side, 'parently for the day. We'll be back tonight, and then you can ..." he made a gesture. "Go home."

"Tried that already," House said with a shrug. "They said I wasn't dreaming. Funny thing is... the people in dreams very rarely outright tell you you're dreaming. So when they lied about that, they had to lie about other things. I don't believe in any of this crap."

He nodded his head though. They were both from DauphinMare. That was interesting.

"Isn't she new, though?" he asked, peering toward Lizzy. "I mean, come on, welcome back."

Lizzy just scowled at House, clutching tightly to Spike's pant leg.
