Faith... hadn't really been paying attention. Well she had... at first. But she'd gotten there kind of early and as such... well. Short attention span. There'd been nothing to fight for a good 10 minutes, and she'd gotten bored. And really, it felt like she had just looked over at the portal and then looked back 30 seconds later and there were a whole crowd of people around it.

"Shit," she muttered, fumbling for her gun, taking aim and firing without aiming beyond 'toward that group of people'. She wondered how close range the weapons were, and realized belatedly that she wasn't that far off from the group, and even if she missed hitting someone because of distance or bad aim, they were bound to spot here.

And there were... a lot more people there than there was her. She definitely wasn't going to last very long.

Taking better aim this time, she tried to get a good shot at Jaime, while at the same time trying to be aware of... well, DauphinMare's entire invasion force training their weapons on her. She kind of wished she had a bit more cover fire. But she figured it didn't matter if she got tagged out, as long as she hit Jaime before the girl could point out where all the other objects were located.

Cameron caught the movement, moving far too fast so as to block Faith's shot, her own gun already out and aimed, shooting as she moved. Once, twice, thrice. She was hit with Faith's shot, though, and faded out shortly after blocking the shock.

Mal jumped a bit, cursing heavily. They hadn't been here more than five minutes and they were already under siege.

"Hurry bao bei," he encouraged, "Don't know how long we c'n keep you here."

Though he supposed if she got tagged out, it wouldn't be the end all, be all. After all, he hadn't really wanted her to be out here in the first place.

Jaime stared as Cameron was suddenly just gone. One of her guards. Was gone. She whimpered quietly, pressing against Mal's back, hands shaking as she looked at the second item on Ice's most wanted list. Her eyes shifted away from the castle, and she pointed. "There," she said. "Toward the ..." what? Hills? She squinted. "Cave. Oh, in the cave. The black orb," she said.

Ais nodded, tipping Jaime a wink before she skirted around the back of the group, heading toward the caves she could make out far across the plain. She didn't see anyone between here and there, but who knew what was waiting in the cave? As she ran, she rolled her dogs out, the three of them running in a tri-point formation around her.

Disappearing? Was that what happened? Corey relaxed slightly before she pointed her weapon - feeble ass may as well be plastic thing - toward the girl shooting at them. She had a moment to think that the girl reminded her of someone before she was pulling the trigger.

Corey was, however, highly suspicious that there was only one person here to meet them - where the hell was everyone else?

Faith managed to get a few shots fired off, but there were a lot of people hovered around the girl, and a lot of them were shooting at her, and when she suddenly saw her visions clouding over as she was tagged out and faded away, she really wasn't surprised.

Voldemort had been expecting the brunette to fail. He'd cast a Disillusionment Charm over himself to blend in with his surroundings, and had remained still. He rather hoped that in the confusion, some of the conceivably magic folk among the group would not be able to notice, but just in case he had shielded his thoughts as well.

The girl in the middle - Jaime - was trouble. And without a 'gun' of his own, he was hard pressed to do anything about it.

But he could set traps.

'Imperio,' he thought, aiming his wand at Jaime, hoping to convince her that there was an item or two located in the barracks.

Mal was a little more taken aback by Cameron's disappearance than he should be. Granted, they'd managed to take out the girl who'd done it, but still. If they dropped at this rate, they were all in a heap of trouble. He nodded one of the others to go find an object; he, for one, was staying right here, gun in his hand.

Jaime glanced nervously in the direction Hannibal had gone before she blinked. A faint smile pulled at her lips as her eyes went blank. "Barracks," she murmured. "There's some in the barracks," she continued in a not-quite-there voice.

"Right, which ones?" Spike said. "Folk need to know what they're lookin' for, pet," he murmured to her - though why did she suddenly sound and look a little drugged?

Keen eyes swept around slowly, a frown on his lips. "Think they've got one of them ..." he gestured vaguely toward his head to indicate some sort of mind control.

Corey glanced around as well. "If they did, they wouldn't have to be nearby," she pointed out before she glanced with some concern to Jaime, who really did look like she wasn't completely there.

Well at least it had worked. Voldemort smirked to himself as he struggled to encourage Jaime to remain normal, act like she'd shaken off whatever it was that was distressing the others.

He tried to remember what objects she'd already encouraged the others to find, and what they'd already been sent for.

'Act normal, everything's all right,' he assured Jaime. 'The antidote and the light orb are in the barracks. Send some others to go find them.'

Mal nodded to Spike; something was definitely up here, and he didn't like it one bit. He frowned further, if that was even possible, but nodded some of the others who weren't in the guard to go after the objects in the barracks. He'd just have to figure a way about this somehow or other.

Funny how it didn't seem to be coming to mind...

Jaime made a little noise, shaking her head. She blinked a few times before she glanced around. "The ..." she looked at the list. Ice didn't want the light orb. But the antidote was okay. "The antidote's in the barracks," she said with a little nod. She wouldn't assign anyone; she'd let them pick whichever wanted to go.

Her eyes returned to the list. Ice wanted the resurrection goblet, too, and she asked herself where that was. Her power balked slightly, and she frowned before she gestured vaguely. "The goblet's in the ... there's a place..."

Maybe she had too many feelers out; she was getting conflicting directions. Both were vaguely the same, but one branched while the other pointed right at the barracks.

Corey glanced to Booth, and she wanted very badly to tell him not to volunteer, but that was why he was here. If he wanted to go find, then she'd have to let him. She tried to keep her expression very neutral as she glanced around to see if she could see anything else, anyone approaching them - or anyone coming back.

"There's a place," Booth said skeptically, peering toward the barracks as if he could sense a trap from here. "Can you get more specific than that?"

Wasn't that why they'd risked bringing her along? So she could tell them where the items were?

Running a hand over his face, he sighed. "All right, fine. Are we going in pairs?" he asked, eyeing Corey briefly, rather reluctant to move where she'd be out of his sight. But he wasn't part of Jaime's guard - he was supposed to be fetching the items. So he started to move - somewhat awkwardly, because he was still waiting for responses to his question - in the direction of the barracks.

River was growing impatient with how long it was taking Jaime to list locations, and rather wished she had the skill so she could just go. She did not like it here. She wanted to complete the task and get back to Riverfell as soon as possible.

"Where are the other items?" she asked Jaime, a twinge of annoyance in her voice.

She rather wished that those who had already departed would return quickly.

Voldemort wasn't certain his plan was working or not. Was that how the girl normally acted? And he'd told her to state that the antidote was in the barracks, but she'd neglected to mention that. He was rather sulky.

But at least it was half working. 'Good Jaime, good. You can send a few to the Business District as well. But that's where all the other items are. The Business District and the Barracks.'

He reasoned that might help. Some items actually were in the Business District. Perhaps that would help with her... conflict between his orders and her powers.

He rather wished Bellatrix had stayed behind. He had never been particularly fond of this legwork side of things.

"She's doin' the best she can," he snapped at them, "Let her be, wouldja? No one wants t'be here, but short of cartin' her about, you're gonna have t'make do. I ain' lettin' her any farther in than I absolutely gorramn have to."

Hell, he didn't even want her this far in. But they'd already had that argument, hadn't they? Fingers curled angrily around his already drawn weapon, knuckles white with the force of his grip.

Jaime cried out quietly before casting a glare in River's direction. "It doesn't fucking work like that," she snapped as she felt all ten pulls go off at once. Her head started to throb and she lifted her hands to her temples.

She glanced up to Mal, shaking her head slightly. "I have to go to the business district and the ... barracks," she told him. "I can't ... it's not going to work this way." She was afraid it might not have though, and she wondered if she should leave them on their own, or at least try for a few.

The voice was nagging at her to send (go) to the barracks and the business district, and the pulls were jerking her in different directions, and she just wanted some Advil and a nap. "It'll just... take a little longer," she began.

With another pointed look at River, Jaime regarded the list - though she was already moving slowly toward the barracks, not completely aware she was doing it.

"Uh, pet?" Spike tilted his head at Jaime. He'd thought the plan was to guard her while everyone else went off ... though he supposed following her around would lead to the same ends. He shrugged and started to move along with her toward the barracks. If that's where they were headed ...

Corey was less than certain about this. But she didn't know Jaime from Adam, so for all she knew this was normal. Still, her eyes moved over the landscape as they apparently decided to shake things up.

River knew that everyone was on edge - no one liked being here any more than she did - so didn't take offence to Mal or Jaime's tones, and looked at the ground somewhat sheepishly, though she was still extraordinarily agitated.

"Sorry," she mumbled, moving with the rest of the group, wondering if anyone had even heard her.

Booth wondered if he was supposed to be leading the way, and didn't much care for the idea of leading when the... leader... was coming with them. So he eased back to rejoin the group, his own eyes searching for anything out of the ordinary.

He would have rather liked a flashing neon sign, pointing to something shiny with the words 'Take This Item!' written on it - but he supposed that would be a trap anyway.

Voldemort thought he had more or less done his job... but thought that he should continue to follow the group, at a distance, in case something went wrong that he would have to fix. Though he knew that every second he remained in partial contact with them he risked detection.

Mal's brow knitted together; this was not going smooth. Jaime walking straight into the heart of things was definitely not smooth. Watching the terrain with a vigilance that borderlined paranoia, he followed closely after her.

Edward followed as well; he didn't like what was going on in Jaime's mind, but it was difficult to decipher.

"I don't think..." he began, but he wasn't sure where he was going with that.

"What don't you think?" Spike said to the other vampire, brows elevating slightly. "If you think you know somethin' about this, maybe now would be a good time to bring it to light, so to speak."

Not that there was much light around here. Gloomy ass piece of work, this place was. "But I thought the plan was to keep her, away from everyone else, right? If we go wanderin' around in the buildings, do you know how many places there are for people to hide in there?"

Corey hesitated slightly, glancing around at the others. This apparently was not a very well thought-out plan. Or it was well thought out but poorly executed ... or something had gone wrong. "Should we go back? I mean, send her back? We'll fumble around on our own or something, but ... this doesn't feel right," she said.

Though she was basing that on nothing but half her lifetime of hunter instincts, and she didn't expect anyone to really care enough to listen to the new girl.

Jaime though, was still walking ... like she wasn't even listening. Corey reached out to grab the girl's arm, pulling her back toward them.

Jaime looked curiously up to Corey. "The antidote and the light orb are in the barracks," she echoed. "And there are items in the business district. We have to go get them."

Even as she spoke, something felt vaguely wrong about her statement, but ... her mind wouldn't settle long enough for her to figure it out. Now, she just had to get them to the barracks. That was all.

Booth wasn't feeling entirely comfortable about the situation either, and when Corey moved to stop Jaime, that only helped to solidify it. "Look," he started to say to Jaime, before he spun on his heel to speak to Mal instead. "I get that there's a lot going on that I don't... get... but she was being way more precise than that when we started. There's... something up and we probably shouldn't do any more moving in that direction until we figure out... what it is... that's up."

Though maybe he didn't get it more than he thought. He gazed warily in the direction of the barracks again, trying to see if he could see anything that might be a trap.

River was growing impatient with all of this standing around and chatting. Someone had been sent in the direction of the shops earlier, hadn't they? It seemed there was more than one item located there.

She started to move away from the group, in the direction of the Business District - unless someone tried to stop her.
