I guess I might as well admit it

I am horribly afraid of angry people. This fear is so bad that I get very anxious, even to the point of tears, if I even hear a twinge of anger or hostility in someone's voice. And if I find out they're angry because of something I did, I get very afraid and feel the urge to shout "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" at the top of my voice and start bowing and ( Read more... )

which is probably not much at all- but I read this entry with a lot of compassion and concern. I think what you are missing is not something that you can find in a medication or by talking to even the most skilled therapist. I believe that your problem is a spiritual one. Not a religious one- an issue with the soul.

I know you are not a big believer in these types of ideas and I respect that...and so I won't push it on you. I only will casually mention it and you can do with it what you choose.

I cannot recommend highly enough the book A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle (a link on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/2ydr8c )

I guess I feel like if you truly believe that you have exhausted every reasonable effort in using modern medicine and psychology to heal your wounds- why not try a different approach?

Either way, I wish you the best. I hope you are able to find peace and fulfillment and I hope you know that I care and understand your frustrations.

I am a little skeptical about a book hyped by Oprah... but I bought a copy online today and I will read it when I get it. Thank you for understanding. :)

I understand your skepticism. I, too, frowned upon it's association with Oprah- however, while I am not a viewer of her TV program, I do listen to her radio network on XM frequently and she really has transcended her role as bon-bon popping housewife talk show queen and really has turned her attention to philanthropy, spiritual growth and self-improvement.

I should say that I enjoyed this book in spite of it's Oprah-ssociation and I hope you do, too. It really did change the way I view the world and the way I view my own thoughts and actions.

Food for thought, anyway. Let me know what you think when you get a chance to read it!
