in brief
We are moved in, though still unpacking. I like our new place well enough, but it is smaller than our old place and we have too much stuff. I have to figure out how to get rid of some stuff and at the same time replace the bookshelf that got broken in the move.
I was relieved to learn last night that the lingering smell outside of my apartment is not urine, but boxwood. It is beyond me why anyone would want to landscape with a plant that smells so akin to cat piss. Well, at least it only smells like piss. Still, I'd like to go and rip it all up out of the ground.
I made it through the first week of graduate school okay. I'm really excited about all of my classes: Reading in Race and Ethnicity, Readings in Black Studies and Intro to American Studies.
On the agenda for the day: Do Laundry (we have a washer and dryer in the apartment!), purchase the weeks groceries and read, read, read. I think that my internetting is about to get seriously curtailed.
