Ethnic Studies Commencement was excellent. There were only 16 of us who walked, so it was a really intimate ceremony.
I got to the spot 15 minutes late. Of course parking on campus was a bitch. I found a spot in a crowded lot five minutes before I was supposed to be lining up  for the processional. There was someone else waiting, but I cut her off to get the spot. I never do that sort of thing, but I was not going to miss the ceremony. As I got out of the car she yelled at me, "I've been waiting for that spot for ten minutes!" I hollered back, "I've been waiting for that spot for four years!" Then I zipped up my gown and walked away. I was quite pleased with myself. I am hardly ever able to come up with a snappy comeback right in the moment.
This is me all decked out before the ceremony. this was taken about five minutes after the department office manager told me to take a deep breath and calm down because we were running late and wouldn't be lining up for another five minutes.
I put all this effort into trying to figure out how to get my mortarboard on over my big hair & it still fell off.. So I accepted my degree with a bare head.

Lots of my friends and neighbors came out to cheer me on.
