Naps were important still, even if the world was ending. Besides, it was not like any of the menstruation and feline business concerned him, or Kondo-san, for that matter, so there was no need to take any action at the moment. Though it did seem like the Yorozuya were getting somewhat affected, they probably deserved it, those bastards who blew up half their headquarters. If Yamazaki had not just arrived, the task of rebuilding would be all left to him, what with the Vice Commander going buddy buddy with Itou-sensei, intending to investigate the curse in the forest

She opened her mouth, but instead of the words "stay away" and "help me", what came out of it was a feral roar. She backed away slowly, gripping her umbrella so tightly that her nails were starting to dig in her flesh.

She almost tripped over the debris, making her panic. She shouldn't fight! No, she must! No, she shouldn't! No, she must! Why? Because it's needed? Why? Because it's fun!

Her lips curled into a smile as she aimed her umbrella and decided to shoot a barrage of bullets at him.

So maybe the Yorozuya brat was always violent, but there was something different about her this time. Perhaps, like the others, she was affected too- how, why and what, the idea of it being a curse having befallen them was quite uncanny indeed. Well it did not matter, it was not like this was the first time she was shooting something deadly at him, and neither was it going to kill him that easily. If she wanted a fight, then he was all up for it; never mind that she would not back down most probably, he would not back down either. However, the Commander need not get involved with any accidental injury.

Sheathing his sword, Okita grabbed his bazooka, since a it was more suitable for a long to mid range fight and it did not look like Kagura was about to fight up close, perhaps. Running away from the headquarters, and the bullets, in hopes that her shooting would follow and not destroy any more of the building, Okita then aimed a shot at the other.

She growled, deflecting the shot with a swing of her umbrella. The shot missed Okita, but managed to blow up another hole on the wall. The explosion managed to wake up the sane part of her for a bit. If she continued to fight inside the building, many people might get involved. And she couldn't possibly fight against more than one Shinsengumi member, not unless she wanted to start an actual blood bath.

The only person she wanted to fight against was Okita. She wanted to settle that rivalry that started during the Hana-mi while she still held on to whatever's left of her sanity.

Kagura leaped towards Okita, and when their faces was no more than an inch away from each other, purred. She pushed him away from her as she leaped back, turned and ran towards a place where they can fight in peace.

She stopped just a few meters away from the jungle, where there were hardly any residences that could be destroyed by stray ammunition.

Ignoring her growling, Okita turned his head briefly to steal a quick glance at the damage done to the headquarters. When he was assured that the wall hit was not the one surrounding the room in which Kondo-san was occupying, if he was indeed in the building, Okita quickly started running again, wanting to lead her out to an open area where they could blast all the ammunition they wanted at each other

Was Okita really that slow before, or was it because her instincts were taking over? She stepped aside and let the bullet take its course, not minding the huge explosion that took place behind her afterwards.

Umbrella in hand, she decided to run head first towards her opponent, swatting away any bullet that comes her way.

It missed, and missed again, but that was not unexpected. It would be a real waste of time and effort if things were to be concluded so easily. This was how it was supposed to be- just like during the Sakura Viewing event- they were fighting on par- or well, at least right now they were. The China brat seemed a little stronger this time. Not that that mattered.

Sensing her fast approach, Okita decided to ditch the bazooka once and for all. It was going to be of no use if she came directly before him. Sword in hand, he concentrated on his target as she drew nearer, took several quick steps forward himself, and proceeded to slash at her right shoulder when they were almost passing each other.

The intention was not to kill, however, not now, not yet, not necessary- but to simply immobilize. The Yorozuya owed them a job after all.

Kagura hissed as the tip of Okita's blade dug through her shoulder. Had she not moved fast enough, the wound would have been severe enough to render her arm useless for a long time, if not hack it clear off her shoulder. Leaping away from her opponent, she left her umbrella open on the ground as she hid behind. She ripped off some cloth from the bottom of her dress and, using her mouth to hold the other end of the cloth steady, tied up her shoulder to lessen the bleeding.

Standing up, she used her umbrella as a machine gun and started shooting at Okita again. While he was skillful enough to dodge everything, she took the opportunity to leap up a tree and charge at him from above. She opened her umbrella, and was spinning towards him like a top.

Almost, it was almost there. On one hand, he was somewhat slightly disappointed that he was able to hurt her already, however little. On the other, he was pleased. However, this fight between them, this unfinished business from the Sakura viewing event- it seemed that the China brat was taking things more seriously this time. Kagura wasn't aiming for Okita. She landed in front of him with an impact that made the ground crack. Smirking as she knelt in front of him, she quickly closed her umbrella and whacked his leg as hard as she could, sweeping him off his feet.

Not waiting for him to stand up, she loaded her umbrella and was going to shoot him in the head...

NO!

It missed, for some odd reason. The bullet only managed to graze Okita's right calf muscle. It would be painful, but he'll live.

Shocked at what she just did, Kagura retreated back up her tree and stared.

This did not happen often- he was barely, if not never, the one being caught off guard. Yes this was Kagura, from the Yato clan, but she was never this fast before. Or was she? He certainly had not slowed. Training sessions were less tedious but nevertheless not ignored. Granted, it had been a while since he had a spar- the China brat was definitely quicker on her feet.

Okita had not anticipated that she had been aiming for his leg till the last few seconds. But then it was too late. Because she was already on the ground below. She was proficiently maneuvering her umbrella, hitting his leg hard enough to cause him to lose his balance. She had proceeded to shoot him without hesitation.

Somehow he got the feeling she had not intended to aim the bullet for his leg. The angle- anyhow, while it would not render him immobile, things were not going in his favor.

He shifted his leg a little to observe the damage done. It hurt, was bleeding, staining his pants a dull red, but it was manageable

Kagura stared intently at the blood on Okita's leg. It looked delicious. Maybe she should come down and lap it. Kagura couldn't resist the urge to lick at her claws.

Perplexed about that previous thought, Kagura decided to hit her head on the tree.

That hurt. And what was that shiny thing over there? Something was compelling her to play with it even though she knew it was dangerous.

MUST. RESIST. TOUCHING. SHINY. BALLS. Kagura jumped off the tree and decided to toy around with the time bomb.

Just realizing what she had been doing, Kagura ran away from the bomb and hid behind a large rock. She ended up mostly uninjured, except for a few bomb shrapnels grazing her here and there. Kagura touched her cheek and saw the blood. She licked it off her hands and stared at her opponent.

Dropping her umbrella, one can see that she was retracting and exposing her claws.

Kagura purred as Okita started to come towards her. So she hasn't rendered him totally incapacitated yet? She licked her lips and waited for him to get closer.

She was not expecting him to rush towards her, though. She managed to dodge the blade, barely. Taking a split-second to stare at her opponent, she bared her fangs and pounced.

[The blade cut her- no she had dodged it mostly. Okita stopped and turned around swiftly for another strike, urging himself to pay no attention to her mouth- the fangs. Nevertheless, he had looked. She was somewhat of a 'beast' now, she could bite him with those vampire teeth if she wanted to. Most probably, she could do it before, she just lacked the insanity that was present now. ]
