Rappigs and bacon can't keep us apart (open)

WHO: Jade, Peony, and anyone else who drops by the Inn with Dist as a party crasher.
WHAT: Two recent (disgruntled) immigrants start planning the next steps in their investigation as an old "friend" draws near.
WHERE: At a table near the window of the dining hall in the Crimson Dragon Inn.
WHEN: Late morning.

Jade had 'picked' the table by the window, that is, he stared the previous occupants into leaving, because, when seated, you could feel a very slight breeze that did wonders to ease the stuffiness of the room. )

Dist narrowed his eyes, the round spectacles resting on the bridge of his nose making them look even smaller. "I...I don't believe you," he stammered, his tone heavy with suspicion.

He was silent for a few moments, as if the gears in his head were beginning to creak and turn very slowly. "Asch the BLOODY, looking for the likes of ME?" His lips pressed into an indignant pout. "Well. I suppose as one of the GLORIOUS God-Generals, he must be in need of my ultra gorgeous artes...or my fon technology...or...WELL THEN. I SUPPOSE I'LL BE OFF. WHERE I'M NEEDED."

He marched past the two men gingerly, ignoring any stares directed his way. Dist could tell when he wasn't wanted. He could TOTALLY take a hint. If the Jade duo wanted to plot amongst themselves, he would just have to track them down in a less conspicuous manner next time...perhaps when he knew he would have the upper hand.

"Ooooh, you'll feel my wrath, JADE....eventually," Dist muttered under his breath as he staggered awkwardly out of the in, in search of a new place of refuge. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he vaguely wondered what Asch wanted, but promptly forgot about it when the cobblestone path begun to enforce pain upon his poor, delicate feet.

Jade followed Dist out of the Inn with his eyes and when he was sure he had left, counted to ten -Dist had a habit of changing his mind halfway through whatever he was doing at the time-, before finally raising his wine glass towards Peony : "I think this requires a toast."

Unfortunately Jade was aware that it was only a temporary victory. Dist always came back. Even that one time when they turned him into an icicle... he returned to the house when he managed to thaw. At least this should buy them a few hours of peace.

"I definitely think this deserves a toast! To Dist, and the fact that he's finally gone!" Peony raised his glass to his friend, and downed some of the sweet wine.

They both knew Dist would never be REALLY gone (They had both tried hard, and had eventually given up.)However, it was a temporary break - Which was usually good enough. Peony counted himself lucky though, Dist was obsessed with Jade- and not him.

"By the time those friends of yours arrive Jade, I'm going to be sloshed! You didn't plan for this did you? I want to sit in on the meeting too."

"You are on to me, Your Majesty", deadpanned Jade, "I was indeed. thinking that we would get more productive work done if you were inebriated and unable to bring to the table your... unique brand of contributions."

Jade drained his glass and refilled it. The afternoon had barely begun, and there they were already, glasses in hand, and nothing really useful to do. Actually, nothing to do at all but wait.

"This is my third glass now? fourth?" Thankfully he had a fairly high tolerance. He had raided the wine-cellar many a time with Jade on particularly bitter nights. However, unless they both wanted to get fat- they couldn't sit around eating all day waiting for the others to arrive.

"I don't see why you have to call me Majesty when we're not in a business setting Jade, I doubt anyone around here cares who I am."

Indiana returned to the Inn after a very very long day. He was about to head up the stairs to down a double of whiskey and sleep the sleep of the dead, but an emperor caught his eye before he had the chance.

Peony did say that he should stop by to talk some time.

And Indy could certainly use the conversation. There was another man there with Peony, a friend it seemed.

Indiana decided to get his whiskey and head for the table.

"Got room for one more?" He asked, before sitting down with a thunk in the nearest available seat.

One of Jade's eyebrows shot up, he wasn't used to people just casually strolling up to and sitting down at the same table as the Emperor of Malkuth, but he thought he remembered Peony talking to that man through the diary. He looked down and pushed his glasses up his nose.

"It is, of course, up to the Emperor..."

"Oh, Indy!" Peony had always liked making friends, not that he had time for many back in Malkuth. In fact, generally he was so busy running the country- He barely had time to say goodnight to his rappigs before bed. If being in a strange place allowed one thing, it was socializing.

"Sit down, relax, the party hasn't started yet! Well, the tactical party I should say. I guess they're running a bit late." He waved the other man to sit down, finishing the rest of his wine with a smile before setting the glass down again.

Indiana looked around at all the empty seats and took a swig of his whiskey. He knew it had been too early to go to bed.

"You are the root of the tactical party?" Indiana said, he was beginning to think he had severely underestimated Peony's abilities.

"So, who is your friend here?" The other man was looking at him like he wasn't sure if he should shake Indy's hand or punch him in the groin. Indy hoped to be introduced before he made the decision.

"3rd Malkuth Army Division, Colonel Jade Curtiss", Jade answered before Peony could launch in a possibly embarrassing introduction including Cute!Jade the rappig and childhood stories.

He looked at the outstretched hand, wondered what that strange rogue -he definitely was from a different world- expected of him, then settled on nodding at him politely. "And I am the root of this tactical party, as you like to call it."

Unshaven. A strange floppy hat. Hard liquor so early in the day. Jade wondered if he was a pirate, a mercenary, or maybe, simply, a common thief.

He could already see the stiffness in Jade's speech and movement. The Colonel had already decided something about Indiana, and it probably wasn't good. Peony had expected as much- it probably didn't look good for Emperor's to want to speak to perfect strangers and make aquaintences with people who could be considered 'commoners'.
Ah well, he had always ruled his own way- And it had worked well so far. Certainly better than his father, who had been horrible with relations and even worse when it came to maintaining peace.

"I can't take the credit for this meeting, it was all Jade's idea. I'm still trying to get my bearings- I'm a bit scattered at the moment, mostly wondering whats going on at home. if it weren't for Jade, I'd be a lost cause." The blonde laughed, leaning back in his chair. "I'm glad you could make it though, in person!"

Indiana looked to Jade, and gave him a little smile. This was not going well. Peony was nice enough, but he realized he probably did give the best first impression.

He hadn't had a chance to shave in a couple days, and probably didn't smell the best. A couple of hours ago he was digging through a garbage heap, looking for old newspapers.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have assumed. I've been up all night, trying to find a library." Jade continued to look unimpressed, but he went on anyway. "I'm Indiana Jones, archaeologist and university professor." He held out his hand, hoping it would be well received.

He doubted it would.

"Ah, an archaeologist!" Suddenly it all made sense, the unkempt hair, the dirty clothes, the overall rumpled appearance. "And a university professor at that..."

He folded his hands on the edge of the table and leaned forward -just a little- : "Have you found out anything about thi s place? Where we are, what it could be?"

(OOC: I'm not sure people even shake hands in Malkuth. Peony, would you weigh in on that?)

Peony was glad to see Jade approved. It wasn't often his best friend was impressed by people, or even liked them. However, he knew Jade did respect intelligence and experience.

"Wow, and archaelogist? You never told me that Indy. Is that why you wear that ugly hat?" Maybe in Indy's world it was uniform. He felt sorry for the man, the hat looked like it had seen better days.

"I wear the hat because I like it." Indy said, trying not to growl at his new friend. "It's good luck, and important to me."

Indiana was surprised that Jade had knew what an archaeologist is. Most of the people here didn't seem to, and those that did didn't tend to care all that much. With the exception of Schuldig, who seemed to think he was some sort of action-adventure hero.

It almost made him feel at home to be recognized as an academic.

Indiana sighed, and turned to Jade, offering everything he knew.

"Well, so far I know that this place is at least 100 years old, maybe older, but not by much. The people speak English and dress like they are from the 15th to the 18th century.

The ruler of this place is a little girl, a Child-Queen who claims to have been the ruling monarch for over 100 years herself. She claims she doesn't age, and is presumed immortal.

According to a mural I found in an alley down the street, this city is the only settlement on the island, and is surrounded by dense jungle. I get the feeling the locals aren't encouraged to leave the city very often.

Right now, I'm just trying to find a Library. Hopefully containing some information on the origin and history of this island. I have some friends who are helping me with this...

But there is a significant possibility that any of the ancient texts we find will be indecipherable without the proper background.

The locals don't seem willing or capable of talking about what this place is or why we are here.

I suspect supernatural forces are governing the island, but so far the source of this power is completely outside of my grasp."

"This is simply fascinating. I'm a bit-", Jade smiled modestly, in a way that seemed slightly contrived, "of a scholar myself. Mostly in the realm of what we call fonic science and you might call... bordering on the 'supernatural'. I do decipher a few different languages as well, although I am not sure they are the ones spoken in this world. But if I can ever be of use..."

Jade's features took on a vaguely distant expression as he continued and reminisced : "We have a lot of unexplored ruins in Malkuth, but few archaeologists. I remember when Luke, Guy, Tear and I had to find our way to the bottom of a huge underground structure mostly buried in the sand near Chesedonia. There were the most amazing murals etched on the walls, unfortunately I didn't know enough of the local history to be really able to understand them."
