It had been a vast relief to Aerith when she and Leon found Zack, and she was glad for his company as they went to meet Larsa. She definitely owed Leon a favor of some sort, even if she didn't seem inclined to ask anything of her, and she mulled over options as they made their way along, hands clasped behind her. He definitely wasn't going without his kindness repaid, once she thought of something ( ... )

"A-ah, Lady Aerith." He stood at once, bowing gracefully to allow himself a moment to regain composure. "The honor is all mine." The boy smiled graciously, offering her the bouquet. "These are for you, perhaps as a belated welcome to this strange island we have found ourselves upon."

He had spent his childhood in the company of nameless maids and one female guardian who was more a genderless soldier than a woman. He was not without love, but he did not have an abundance of it. The boy had grown up without a mother.

Larsa blushed, a rosy color tinting his cheeks and boyish expression.
"If you will permit me to say, Lady Aerith, you are certainly a thousand times more beautiful in person than you are in the little pictures that do you no justice."

The young gentleman eased into familiarity and routine, offering his hand to Zack.
"And you must be Master Zack. I am pleased to meet you, sir."

Ever since they'd met up in that strange Forest Of Odd Creatures and Real Big Trees, Zack had told himself quite firmly in his mind that Aerith was not to be let out of his sight. Strange things were about, strange and potentially violent, but mostly just strange. And while a public street like this didn't appear particularly dangerous, sometimes you can't be too careful. Especially since his sword didn't appear to have been transported to this weird place with him ( ... )

It had been a while since he had felt so at ease after meeting with strangers. Had he ever felt this way? Larsa combed through his memories, trying to locate an event during his life when he hadn't been half frightened to death for some reason or another, whilst meeting someone.

He could not for the life of him recall one instance.

The way that Aerith and Zack smiled made his heart catch in his throat. And the boy realized it was the very first act of kindness an adult (or in this case adults), who was not from his extended 'family', had shown him since he had arrived. Since he had been born.

There were no pressing matters of the Child Queen's tyranny veiled in innocence. No passages to translate. No people to rescue. No field of corpses to hide behind his eyelids every night he slept...

"It means the world to me, to have met you both." Larsa managed after a moment, smiling brightly.

Recieving flowers came as a surprise to Aerith; really, Larsa didn't have to do anything so kind for her. She had missed flowers though, particularly the ones from the church, so she was grateful for the gesture. She carefully took the boquet offered to her and watched Zack greet Larsa.

They hadn't spoke much but they seemed to get along and she was glad for that. It remained in her mind how lonely Larsa seemed, and she didn't like the idea that such a kind boy felt that way. Or the idea that people had allowed that.

Something that would hopefully change, she told herself, glad when Larsa smiled in return. Zack's grins really were difficult not to respond to, at least Aerith had begun to think so.

"Thank you for the flowers." She said, looking down at them for a moment before returning her attention to Larsa. She hadn't seen flowers like them before and she wondered if they were unique to this place or if such varieties were typical under the open sky. "Were you waiting long?"
