Joshua truly was enjoying the scenery. Call it something of a welcome break (or an excuse to slack off) from his job. It had been a long time since he'd been anywhere not Shibuya, and initially unsettling. But Joshua was sure he wasn't going to be here for very long (however he'd even arrived); despite what Carrie had said, he was sure someone would realise he was gone and drop by to pick him up ( ... )

"Yep. A couple months back." Four months back (almost five, now), excluding a recent three-year trip back home. No need to share that part. She said it casually, and the quick once-over she delivered once she got closer didn't look nearly as thorough as it had been.

Nothing special to see, though. In all outward appearances, this was a perfectly normal kid. The number of people who had turned decidedly questionable during recent age-shifting events had probably just made her overly paranoid. So she pushed a smile onto her lips and thrust out a hand to shake.

"Nice to meet you without the book in the way, and welcome to Rivelata. Any questions so far?" There. Now that she knew he wasn't wearing a hockey mask and wielding a butcher knife, she could do cordial, no problem. She'd learned it from Bruce Wayne, playboy extraordinaire (in his youth, at least), after all.

Joshua laughed, taking her hand and shaking it. "Plenty." He let go of her hand. "Some more important than others."

He idly considered whether Carrie would know what a cellphone charger was. She wasn't dressed in as outlandish things as some others had been, but he considered that she'd already been living on the island for some time now. Well, if she didn't know what cellphone chargers were, then he'd at least know she was from a place that didn't have that kind of technology.

"For example," he began, moving to take out his cellphone and flip it open. A glance told him there were no messages from home, "would you happen to know if there are phone battery chargers here?"

Oh, that was good. Trying a cellphone on Rivelata? She'd kill for that kind of coverage, if the kid actually had any bars. She fought off a smirk, kept her calm, and scooted to take a seat on the bench just behind him. He could stay there or sit in the space left next to her, she didn't care one way or another.

"Why bother?" she asked, once she was sure she wouldn't outright laugh at him and ruin it. There might be the chance for that later, anyway. "You're not going to be making many calls from here."

Joshua opted not to take the seat, instead turning to keep Carrie in his sights. After all, why sit down when he was going to be standing up soon? He was expecting a tour in due time, after all.

He laughed at the comment. Giving Carrie a knowing smile as he snapped shut his phone, he said simply, "Oh, I'm not expecting to make any calls."
