Even if it's only by simply being too stubborn to die.
Kurama weaves his way through the city streets and makes it quickly to the outskirts of the Jungle, where he puts his hand flat on the trunk of the nearest tree and expands his energy.
Show me Kuwabara, he thinks, and an image forms slowly in his mind. And as that familiar form swims into view, and Kurama maps out the quickest path and sets off to find his friend, he can't quite stop the delighted laugh from breaking free.]

To think I'd get my energy back by now...[And the only reply he gets is his stomach growing.] Urgh, should stop talking before I go crazy.
...
I'm not crazy, am I?
[He sits up, wincing a little at the broken rib and flips the journal open (good, he actually HAS the journal so that bit wasn't a hallucination).]
O-oi, Kurama! You're there right?
Reply
No, you're not crazy. And, yes - I'm here.
[He notices rather quickly how Kuwabara's sort of oddly hunched to one side, though, and the way he's covered in various scrapes and bruises, and moves quickly to his side.]
Try not to move so much. Tell me where it hurts.
[His hands are gentle as he presses various parts of Kuwabara's body, checking for any broken bones or internal injuries. He doesn't look up as he works, but there's both worry for his friend and extreme relief that he doesn't have to be alone anymore mingled together in his expression.]

Oh, that's good. [Laughs as he closes the journal, trying not to wince too much when Kurama touched the painful spot.] It's the right side of the rib cage. Must've broken some from falling from one of those big trees.

[He shakes his head.]
Never mind. There's not much I can do with it now - we'll have to get back to the shop so I can bandage it properly. I only hope it hasn't started to heal on its own yet. If it's healing wrong, we'll have to break it again to set it.
[He stands, offering a hand up to Kuwabara.]
Still, I wouldn't worry. Your energy has always lent itself well to healing. We'll take it slowly back to the shop.

Man, I'm gonna be so glad to see a bed. [He slowly stands up, leaning against Kurama for support- who kinda smells nice. Why is that?
...oh.]
Uh...and a bath would be nice.

I think that can be arranged. Actually, it's probably a good idea - get all these scrapes and the like clean before I bandage you up.
[He wraps one arm firmly around Kuwabara's waist to help hold him up as they start moving, and it's more comforting than he ever could have imagined to have that solid form against his. It's like coming home from a mission, one of them leaning on the other, limping towards the promise of warm water and clean sheets.
Almost like they're heading back home.]

Speaking of which, how is she? And the kittens? [It's been such a while for him. He wondered if they were all given away already. And if they were then the owners better be taking good care of them or this smelly teen with a broken rib and other things will be knocking at their door.]

It's not terrible, really. You ought to smell some of the worse places in the Makai - after you've been through that, a little dirt and sweat is nothing.
[Kurama shakes his head fondly - of course the first thing he's going to be worried about is his cat.]
She's doing fine - she and Hakuryu seem to get along swimmingly. And most of the kittens are gone, yes, although we did somehow manage to keep a few, despite someone promising he was going to get rid of them all...

[He scratches his cheek.] I just got a little sidetracked... [By what he thought was a cat getting lost in a jungle.]
