Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ivy was not far from the tree; she had not been since its appearance, and only drew herself closer as threats were made against it. Something so beautiful had to be protected-- and she would fight for it as she would fight for the jungle-- wildly, and without remorse. Come Hell or high water, she would defend it, regardless of the number of those who stood against her.

Quietly, she'd watched over it, and over the children on and around it. She'd noted every word, saw every face. As unfortunate as human curiosity was, as long as the visitors posed no harm, she remained hidden.

Such a pity that so many seemed intent on harming it now. Leave it to the humans to pose a hostile threat and rage war against something they knew little of. Leave it to them to choose a scapegoat so willingly and so fast-- one that could not speak for itself. The brutish maggots hardly deserved to live in this paradise!

Imagine her surprise when a few choice supporters shone out of the fray.

Curiously, she watched the strange eared man approach the branch, her eyes narrowed and fingers gently caressing the skin of her neck. Familiar. Was he the one who had declared to defend it? Surely, the appearance seemed to fit.

When he made no move to attack or explore, Ivy moved from her place of rest-- from behind the tree she'd nurtured and helped grow upon her arrival, the once tiny little thing she'd dug the sand from. Oh,how it had grown and flourished with her care and love. "I'll be back, baby," she cooed gently to it as she moved toward the man, clad in little more than sparse vines of ivy.

But, oh? What was this? As the man's attention shifted,so did hers, and the calm, almost pleasant expression shifted into irritation. "Eager to cause trouble, are we? You had best do as suggested!"
