You Can't Take Me

WHAT: Kurama and Poison Ivy have taken offense to the suggestions that the tree be either destroyed or dissected, and are determined to protect it, backed up by various friends.

He hadn't intended to take this so seriously. In fact, the branch had been more of a curiosity for him than anything else, and he'd intended to get a closer look at it once the initial interest of the community at large had died away. But the part of him that had spent so long connected so intimately to the plants he used as weapons and tools heard the insinuations that such a rare and beautiful specimen should be destroyed - and took immediate offense.
He'd tried to be rational, really. But there was no talking to some people, and he'd realized quickly that no matter what he tried, it seemed only brute force would stop them. And it was with this realization that he knew he needed more power than his current form could give him.
With more and more practice, he'd learned to hold the youko form longer, but it was still nothing like what it should have been. Still, there was a little more power there, and the brute force of intimidation from his increased size and altered appearance.
And many of the people he expected to encounter were newer, unaware of the Blood Curse events, and thus safe to display his true form to - none of them would be able to make the connection.
So Kurama stood on the branch, eyes raking the beach approach, waiting for his first challenger - or, indeed, his first ally.
