Those weren't his thoughts. Light was on the subway, in a body that felt distinctly unlike his own. Other thoughts ran through his mind, panicked, nearly sick with worry.
Information had just been written down. Kira had wanted him to write down the names of all the FBI agents investigating the murders in Japan. He'd obliged, under the threat of losing his own life. It was impossible to know what the mysterious killer wanted with those names...
Wait. Light knew exactly why he'd wanted those names! Whose thoughts were these, and why were they interfering with his own?
He stepped off of the subway and all of a sudden, a vise clenched around his heart. Searing pain jolted down his left arm. A heart attack!
A heart attack? But he wasn't old enough to have one! And there was so much to live for; he was getting married...
Light wasn't getting married. He was starting to get a clearer picture of exactly whose eyes he was seeing through.
Frantically clutching his chest, he fell to his knees. No one seemed to notice he was in trouble. Was he actually going to die? He heard the doors of the subway closing behind him, and made one last desparate attempt to gain someone's attention. That was when he saw it.
"Yagami... Light?" he gasped, and Light saw himself standing on the subway as the doors closed.
"Sayonara... Raye Penbar," Light saw himself say, then the doors slid shut. With one final groan, his vision went black.

Light was back in Rivelata a second time, and realized quickly that he was hyperventilating. Recoving his composure yet again, he pushed himself to his feet and reflected on what had happened.
It was from almost the beginning of his time as Kira, when he'd killed the FBI agent Penbar that was following him. Before he'd even met L, before graduating high school. It felt like an entire lifetime ago.
But he had heard Penbar's thoughts, felt exactly what he had in his last moments. What could that possibly mean?
As Light headed back to his room, he was only thankful Ryuk wasn't here. The shinigami would have a field day with this sort of thing.
