WHEN: Day 255 (Sunday Dec 7) -- after
this log has completed and Sakamoto Ryouma killed in the ensuing chaos.
Shortly after all was said and done, a guard approached each of you and requested to return to the palace for a meeting. You are met at the gates by guards. For those who are returning, this is nothing new, but this time the General is with them. He makes everyone wait at the front until people stop arriving, but gives a curt order to Colonel Casimiro to wait for any additional stragglers. Major Valery is nowhere to be seen.
With barely a word, he makes a beeline for the center of the structure. Turning left there and winding around to another hallway, a pair of large wooden double-doors are opened for you into a room with a marble floor and window facing out to the courtyard from the second story -- a window so large it encompasses the entire wall opposite the double-doors -- which provides all the light the room could need during the day.
A large grey table, like a circle stretched lengthwise, has been set up to accommodate the meeting with one chair per Councillor -- eight in all. At the far end sits the Queen in a high-backed chair, with the Chancellor seated to her right. Behind the Chancellor, Major Valery is at attention, scanning each person who walks into the room. In each corner stands a well-armored guard with a shadhavar emblazoned on the tabard. Additional chairs have been brought into the room and stand off to the side, a guard ready to place it among the others at the table as non-Councillors arrive.
The Chancellor stands and beckons each of you when you enter - she is much more serious, a stern look on her face, than any have seen her before. "Please, take a seat. This Council must be brought to order immediately." As an afterthought, she turned back to the group and gave a small nod of her head, "I suppose I should have introduced myself to those who have not met me before - I am Chancellor Ashire Mihamocha Nachitah and I wish we had been able to meet under more pleasant circumstances."
