It’s a question of trust

WHO: Schuldig and Farfarello. Later Aya and Crawford if they like.
WHAT: Building up team Moral
WHERE: The livingroom
WHEN: After Breakfast, day 228

After his conversation with Crawford, Schuldig thought it best to settle the lingering concerns about the mental security of his team. If the previous Schuldig had thought anything like he did, Schuldig knew he would want the easiest access possible to his team. For communication to make sure that no other opportunistic telepaths went looking for their secrets. But he didn’t know the former Schuldig and if they thought alike. There was also the concern about the way Nagi and Farfarello held it against them that they were ‘new’ and rather unwelcome versions. Those were the holes he especially needed to investigate. Crawford was being discreet, but likely nearby, Schuldig could feel him lurking at the edge of his mind. He always kept an active link with Crawford, just in case, even if he needed to be focusing all of his strength on a task at hand. In this case, going into Farfarello’s head and sorting through the memories of this place for what would be useful and what wasn’t. This was deeper than the usual scanning of thoughts. He had to go down to where old memories were kept. But if he was busy, having that little link to Crawford would mean there could be no outside surprises.

The mission in the Jungle, collecting Aya had gone well enough. Farfarello and Schuldig had worked well together, but Schwartz was more than just grenades against rabbits. They needed complete trust to function at top form, which included things other than field missions. If this was the only way to ease his lingering suspicions that there might be a nasty surprise waiting courtesy of his own alternate self’s devious mind, then the team would just have to bear with it. It was a necessary component when building up a team. Issues of Trust were always the ones that shattered a weak team, and the lack of issues was one of the things that made Schwartz strong.

Schuldig leaned back in the chair, mentally steadying himself for a deep dive down into Farfarello’s brain, which was not a place he ever wanted to go willingly. It was a bit overwhelming when had to be gentle, putting up with the barrage of strange insane thoughts. But at least he wouldn’t be leaking into Farfarello’s mind like he had

“Alright, Farfarello.” Schuldig said. His face was uncharacteristically focused. “Relax. I’m going to drop thoughts into your head and follow them back to your memories. Stay focused on what I say, and it will go faster.” With Crawford he didn't need to use suggestion. Crawford's head was so organized... but he knew Farfarello and he knew there would be distraction if he didn't use the suggestion method. You couldn't not think about something when told to, even if you denied it by thinking about how you weren't thinking about it. Brain's were so lovely like that.

He reached over, putting a hand against Farfarello’s arm. He had the rock-on actual Scwartz business Crawford let him use it--but it wasn’t a permanent arrangement. They passed it between them so that they both had to flex their talent-muscle, but got relief when the stress got to be too much. So with the rock in his possession, it wouldn’t be problematic going into Farfarello’s mind. A bit more tiring than it should have been, but a far fry from the struggle it just was to talk to Farfarello.

“Nagi.” He said. He had a list of words to fully explore the dark corners of Farf’s brain, but he would add to it, depending on what he found.
