WHO: Kyon, Asahina Mikuru, Suzumiya Haruhi, Nagato Yuki, Agrias Oaks, and any others staying at the SOS Brigade Club House WHAT: The Arrival of the Moeblob WHERE: The Docks, then the SOS Brigade Club House WHEN: Day 202, evening
Mikuru had made her way over to a small shop near the docks, trying to find shelter under the eaves. She hugged herself tightly, trying to keep warm. Her efforts were futile, however - she was already soaked, though the journal had stayed relatively dry. But despite the cold, there was a relieved smile on her face. Kyon-kun was here. Suzumiya-san was here. Even Nagato-san was in this strange place. The SOS Brigade even had a new clubhouse, and she'd made a new friend - Agrias-san seemed very kind.
Everything will be okay.
And then Mikuru sneezed. It was an adorable little moe sneeze, but it was a sneeze all the same. Bunnygirl outfits, she decided, were probably the worst things to wear if one was going to get caught in the rain.
Mikuru sighed. "Kyon-kun, please hurry...A-chuu!"
Suddenly, she heard a voice calling her name. It was faint, but she recognized it at once. "Kyon-kun! I'm over here!"
Moving quickly-- surprising, given how often Haruhi was seen dragging him place, he reached her and immediately wrapped the cloak around her before wrapping her in a hug, too, for a moment before drawing back.
"You're alright! Thank goodness. I'm sorry I took so long. The housing district isn't very close, but we'll have you there in no time. I made sure to tell Agrias to have some warm food and tea and towels ready for us when we get back."
Standing there, soaked, bunny ears drooping above her head-- even with the cloak on, she looked utterly adorable, and Kyon allowed himself the guilty pleasure of one more quick hug.
Mikuru returned Kyon's hug with a smile and wrapped the cloak tighter around her. "Thank you so much for everything."
Suddenly, she was lifted into the air and hugged tight by an exuberant - and loud, as usual - Haruhi. Mikuru shrieked - half in fright, half in excitement - and wondered how in the name of all that is good and holy Haruhi had gotten so strong.
The time traveler smiled at her brigade chief and returned the hug - a little less enthusiastically, but there were a lot of things less enthusiastic than Suzumiya Haruhi. "I'm glad you're here, Suzumiya-san." And to tell the truth, she was.
Despite the inevitable molestation.
And the costumes.
Mikuru shivered, and it wasn't just from the cold.
Somehow, he knew that was coming. Well. At least she wasn't mad. With her powers increasing the way they were, and without Koizumi here to combat closed space, things could get... ugly.
Though, he had to admit, even he was a little surprised as she hefted them both into the air with her increased strength, yelping slightly.
"H-Haruhi!"
Yet, as exasperated as he sounded, he couldn't hide his smile. They were back together again. The SOS Brigade was coming back together.
... Though, now that he thought about it... Haruhi never did follow through on whatever she was doing with that Joshua kid...
And, now that she knew about her powers, what she could do to Asahi--
OH GOD. ASAHINA-SAN WAS GOING TO SEE HIM AS A GIRL. NOT GOOD.
Dropping them to the sand again, Haruhi set her hands on her hips, leaning in to inspect Mikuru closely. Coming in her outfit definitely saved the trouble of making one - although it would definitely have to be washed - but what did that say about when she was from? The festival? Oh, who cared? She was a time traveler, matters of when were probably blurry with her, anyway.
Haruhi made a mental note to make Mikuru teach her how to do it at some point.
"Just in time! We're about to throw a concert, and this time YOU'RE performing too, not just me and Nagato! We need our sex appeal on stage!" She seemed to have forgotten the more serious things that were going on. Taking Mikuru firmly by the wrist, she started towards the Clubhouse. "We've got a lot to experiment with! New outfits, new genders, maybe some real cat ears or a REAL bunny tail!" She glanced at Kyon over her shoulder, wondering a million things at once.
Mikuru blushed as Haruhi, as usual, began violating the very concept of personal space. At least she hadn't started groping her? ...Yet?
"E-eeeh? Another concert?" Mikuru squeaked again as Haruhi grabbed her wrist and started dragging her along. "W-wait...new genders?" She looked helplessly at Kyon, hoping for an explanation.
Then the implications of Haruhi's statement about cat ears sunk in. Mikuru bit her lip. Was Haruhi aware of her powers? And if so, how long did they have until the universe imploded?
Well, maybe it wouldn't be so bad for Asahina-san now that Haruhi had gotten used to groping Kyon instead on a consistent basis.
Maybe.
... Probably not.
Kyon knew Asahina-san was probably disappointed, or at least worried by this development, but so far, no harm had come of it. Besides, Haruhi consciously controlling her pwoers might eventually come to be the only way they could escape from this place.
Still, in the meantime...
"Haruhi, Asahina-san just got here... give her a day or two to calm down, settle in, and understand what's going on? I think she'll need to adjust before she's ready for any, um. Experiments."
Somehow, though, Kyon had a feeling that by saying that he was painting a target on himself.
Well, Haruhi had been planning to experiment on him anyway.... at least Asahina-san would be safe. For now.
"There's no time for that!" She said, whirling on Kyon immediately. She ignored Mikuru's protests, as per usual. "You know how quickly people disappear from here! We've got to do things NOW, while they're all still here!" She tangled her other hand in Kyon's tie, dragging him along with Mikuru.
"We've got to start right away! And if she's got time traveler powers like Nagato's alien powers, we're going to need those ASAP!"
Her musing was cut off as Haruhi turned sharply to face Kyon, and Mikuru flailed frantically in an effort not to fall flat on her face. She regained her balance...only to be dragged off again. All of this random movement was playing havoc with her costume. She hoped it wasn't falling down in the front...
Then she heard Haruhi's next statement and gasped. Oh no. Oh no no no this was not good.
"Haruhi! Hold on! We don't even know how she does it, and besides, everything is always 'classified' when it comes to that and it's probably for a good reason! What if we end up creating a time paradox or a butterfly effect or something and people end up getting hurt, or dying? Haven't you seen the movies and read the books? Messing with time travel without knowing what you're doing is always bad!"
Kyon frowned, but was unable to stop her from dragging him along even less than he was back at school-- after all, here she had superstrength.
"Besides, I'm still here, aren't I? Just... trust in us a little more."
"That's only because you're more - " She stopped, glancing at Mikuru, then turned and started dragging them again, much faster this time so they could get home. Haruhi was eager to show off the Brigade's moe mascot to the Rivelatian members, and it would give her the opportunity to observe which new members had the best dynamics with her. Aside from herself, of course. She was sure her disciple would enjoy using true life stories for her doujinshi.
"I'll just make sure nothing bad happens! And now that I know, it won't be classified for long!"
Now Mikuru was definitely worried. Suzumiya-san knew too much - far too much. This was going to get dangerous. But what could she do? She wasn't sure if Haruhi was in a more volatile state. But if she was and Mikuru tried to confront her...
But Kyon-kun seemed to know what was going on. And if she knew about Nagato as well...
Mikuru decided that talking this out with the rest of the original brigade members later was the best course of action. She didn't want to say anything to make the situation worse, so she let herself be dragged by a still exuberant Haruhi.
It took a moment for Kyon to adjust to Haruhi's faster clip, so he tripped and stumbled a little, but still, he was grateful that at least Haruhi wasn't dragging him through the mud at superspeed, which given her superhumanly low impatience, was something of a miracle.
"Haruhi! She has her responsibilities! You can't just force her to tell you everything like that!"
Ugh. This would not be an easy fight for him to win, he knew, but for Asahina-san's sake, it's one he knew he had to. That, and he genuinely feared the consequences. Haruhi was nothing if not reckless, and time-travel combined with recklessness never had good results. Haruhi wouldn't keep bad things from happening, she'd create them, and, in the process, might even destroy her own-- or everyone else's-- powers, leaving them with no way to fix it. It was all just too risky
( ... )
It had been a whirlwind of activity of the two Brigade members rushing out the door, which Yuki had mostly ignored and read, keeping her journal and pen nearby to write into it to Asashina-san. The time between Suzumiya-san's exit, shortly after the other's, went normally, as Yuki passed the time reading her book.
Then another whirlwind of activity assaulted her quiet reading time.
Yuki sat in her chair. When the noise finally reached her, she flipped a page, almost indifferently. After all, it had been less time since she had seen Asashina-san than either of the two. She figured by this time, Suzumiya-san had let it slip that she knew more than Nagato remembered her knowing, and that Asashina-san probably knew this as well. Having already come to this conclusion, she found she had nothing to say to the time-traveler.
Haruhi flopped her towel over Mikuru's head, not feeling the need to use it herself. Besides, she could see Mikuru shivering - well, she could see the worry in Kyon's eyes more than that - and she was certainly perfectly fine.
"Show her to her room," she said curtly. She stalked off towards her own, beginning to peel off her wet clothing as she did. Haruhi wasn't one to care about indecent exposure. "I'm going to change."
Slamming the door behind her, the SOS Brigade chief let out a long breath. No doubt, while she was gone, her faithful club members would be discussing the things she wasn't supposed to know, and what to do with their now unfortunate situation. Haruhi didn't like the idea. She dried and dressed quickly, then waited at her door - just listening. It was a good thing their psychic wasn't around.
Everything will be okay.
