Kaoru knew exactly why he'd offered Miranda the job. He decided as long as he could admit that it was because she'd been one of the captives -- that Darammi, as he would call her now in his mind, was one of the captives.
And really... if Miranda was anything like Darammi, then Kaoru figured she would need all the friends she could get. And everyone needed a job to survive in Rivelata, but helping around the shop wasn't a big effort... she could handle it. He could help her handle it.
Plus, with any luck, having her nearby would mean Kaoru could make sure Miranda didn't have to go through the same things as Darammi. What would be really great was if this actually help Hikaru finally deal with the 'captive' stuff once and for all; if he could face someone who looked like another captive on a daily basis, that would mean he'd conquered those memories... right?
Kaoru sighed and tied his hair back into the low ponytail again, wondering if he should start braiding it soon. Dressed in a casual pale brown shirt and dark brown pants, he made his way to the front of the store to keep a look out for Miranda.
As he did so, he smiled up at the sign. It had been a long time coming, but they finally owned the store. Miss Ciel had decided to retire and they bought the store from her, as well as the lot behind it. Now, the entire building was devoted to Eagle's Splendour - the lower level for the store, the upper level for storage, the workroom, and three spare rooms for anyone to stay in, but namely any workers they hired. The connecting backyards were where Kaoru spent his time practicing the regime Shuuichi had taught him, then the building in the back lot was for the boys to live in, as well as a number of guest bedrooms for friends to stay in if they ever wanted to host a party or something. It was three guest bedrooms there too, on the second floor, because the boys still shared the one master bedroom and bed.
It was pretty much the only thing they had left of their old lives.
