There were many snakes, and she hadn't thought to bring an extra clip. She anticipated danger in the jungle, yes. There was always danger in the jungle. But she hadn't anticipated an entire swarm of flying beasts to descend upon them. Twelve bullets, two guns. She couldn't be willy-nilly about this like she usually was. It meant a moment or two of extra time for aiming before she fired, and it was that kind of pacing that she despised in a battle. Battles were supposed to be fast and fierce, not steady and careful.
Her aim was true, however annoyed she may have been with the extra time she had to take. She was like a dancer in the thick of the fight, stepping this way and that to avoid the snapping teeth, alternately pulling her arms close to her body and then flinging them out again when she needed to fire, twisting and bending in ways that shouldn't have been possible for a normal human. She aimed for the heads of the spinning creatures, squeezing off two shots into each; ideally, right between the eyes.
