Selene's ears perked at the echoing screech. That was certainly unlike any beast she'd ever heard before, and it sounded unnaturally large. She threw down the body she'd been carrying just short of their growing pile, turning her attention across the river as Kanda spoke.

Her sharp eyes quickly assessed the situation, trying to count the number of adversaries above the trees. It was difficult. They twisted and writhed with a grace unlike anything she'd ever seen. Was this to be a fight? Were they looking to-- never mind. After all, she always had been the sort to shoot first and ask questions later.

Selene stepped firmly back onto solid ground, thanking whatever convoluted gods were about that the river had not been deep enough to ruin her guns. She slipped both out from the back of her too-tight pants, holding both up and at the ready. They were not her lovely semi-automatics, and this was the first time since her acquisition of them that they were seeing battle. She sincerely hoped that they would be worth the gold she traded them for.

Triggers were cocked, and she was ready.
