WHO: John Connor, and Cameron Phillips
WHAT: He's gone to collect his darling robot <3
WHERE: The beach, probably market district/John's apartment later
WHEN: Late morning.
He'd spent the majority of the night, sitting up in bed, unable to sleep. As much as what he'd said to Buffy was true, he was used to having people around him and her living with him was probably doing him more of a favour than her, but he still didn't really know her. She'd proven herself to be everything she claimed, and incredibly sincere and kind, but John couldn't seem to sleep the first night with her in the apartment, anyway.
Needless to say, he woke up feeling less than refreshed, and was even less thrilled with the options for food. Logically, of course, John knew he shouldn't complain. Food was food, he should consider himself lucky that it was free, and things like already made bread and cheese even existed. Knowing that, though, didn't really endear John to different behaviour. Especially when he got bored and started flicking through his journal. It was hard to feel thankful about food provided by people who seemed like they were just kidnapping random people, well, kidnapping them more than they already had, and the arrival of Cameron. The person subject he was on the fence about.
On one hand, if people were getting taken, Cameron was great to have around. John couldn't even breathe wrong without Cameron hearing it and going into protector mode. And even though he had Buffy and he didn't doubt her skills in self-defense, he knew that if anyone was even lucky enough to get inside the door way, they'd never get much farther than that. Cameron was a shoot first, ask questions later sort of girl.
On the other hand, Cameron was just...well, she was just weird. She'd managed to fool him, the first time they'd met, but it seemed every other school interaction after that, Cameron was stiff and awkward. Like once she'd gotten to John, she simply forgot how to keep doing it. So she said inappropriate things, or did things normal people just didn't do. Even for Rivelata, with a bunch of timeline rejects, Cameron was still weird and out of place. He wasn't sure he was willing to handle questions about her, it didn't really help his plan of wanting to pretend he was normal to have her there.
That, and Cameron was also entirely unpredictable. She took orders from his "Future self" and only actually followed some of his orders. The ones she either agreed with, or involed human interaction in which she had no choice but to let him lead. After all, most of the present day social norms didn't exist in her future. Debating this didn't do a whole lot for John's mood.
Which was why by the time he'd actually gotten to the beach, he'd trekked across the sand with a frown on his face, he hated sand. Not immediately spotting his friend robot, he raised his voice, and called for her sharper than he probably would have, under any other circumstance. "Cameron!"
