WHO: Fay d. Flourite @ big-kitty-momma & Kurogane @ from-nihon
WHAT: Kurogane attempting an apology, or at least, hoping for something that might resemble one after epic thread of cat & mouse (although who was who, we're not quite sure~)
WHERE: Midnight Suns Tavern.
WHEN: Ugh. I've so lost count. Today!
It wasn't that their conversation had been anything out of the ordinary but, none-the-less, it had caught Fay off his guard. And it wasn't as though he didn't know why either; he'd been dropping these walls and fences of his around Kurogane since day one, and now, with the need to make Kurogane feel as though nothing had changed between them, he guessed he'd finally dropped one too many.
Kurogane knew everything there was to know about Fay, save for one thing; how he truly felt about the other. Sometimes Fay thought it might be okay to show Kurogane, even if only just a little. These were the times when he would be teasing and playful, forever pushing Kurogane's buttons and his boundaries. These were also the times when he was at his most vulnerable but, that never occurred to him because he was enjoying himself. All it took was a sharp word from Kurogane and it would all come crashing back down again.
He should know better by now, he really should but, for those few moments he was actually lost in happiness; in something that could never be.
Kurogane had hit the nail right on the head; he really was a masochist.
Which was why, even after the other had snapped and left Fay feeling guilty and full of self-loathe, when Kurogane asked to meet him, he had left right away. Curiosity only settling in the moment he stepped through the threshold of the Midnight Suns Tavern, and by then it was too late to turn and run.
