Sebastian said nothing, only a faint amused smile gracing his lips instead of words. Words that could perhaps clarify to Kuja the identity and purpose behind the explosions, or what kind of suspicious character was present at the ball.

Instead, he said, "The fires are quite extensive, sir. The view from the balcony should be excellent, though I ask you give me a few minutes beforehand to enclose the area in glass so that keep out the smoke."

He directed them away from the staked heads, yet even as they walked home, could not shake the strange feeling. There were a great variety of humans and superhumans with unusual abilities in Rivelata, though most had their powers diminished. Originally, when Sebastian had arrived, he'd found himself deprived of his regenerative capabilities, for example. Lately though, as those talents had quite recovered (though, it did take him a bit longer to heal than back home), he had confidence in being able to protect Master Kuja against potential threats. Though he wasn't bound to a contract to Kuja as he was to Ciel, Kuja was such an interesting master, and Sebastian had no intention of allowing some common ruffian maim him.
