WHO: Kuja (
de_novo_xiii), Sebastian Michaelis (
blackestate), and later Grell Sutcliff (
chainsaw_juliet). Might be open later for people who want to bump into them?
WHAT: In light of the strangeness going on around the ball, Kuja and Sebastian go off for some investigating of their own. The stars' alignment forewarns a chainsaw.
WHERE: First through the Housing District, then to the Boardwalk.
WHEN: Day 72 (Night of the Ball), starts about 11:10 P.M.
The night was bitterly cold--more so than usual, even, on what was shaping up to be a rather extraordinary night. All he'd seen in the mansion only served to confirm Sebastian's original suspicions, but still he said nothing as they made their way into the Housing District, far from the ball. Sheltering Kuja from the wind were his own body and the fur overcoat he'd remembered to bring, so he made no haste as he directed them in a deliberate, winding path down the streets.
Finally, he broke his silence.
"Your instincts were quite correct in assuming danger tonight, Master Kuja. The packages we saw were none other than very crudely concealed explosives, designed to detonate at a certain hour--midnight, I suppose, given the perpetrators' taste for dramatics. The stains on the packages suggest that the bombs were tied together with bottles of oil--I would assume the purpose would be to keep the fires burning as long as possible. I took the liberty of locating the bombs--I think you will find it rather amusing that their placement was designed to burn Rivelata in the shape of a butterfly."
He paused.
"Furthermore, the tint of blood-lust in the air would suggest that not all Miss Bennet's guests were present for benevolent reasons. And if one pays close attention, one could catch the strains of the civilians' screams."
