long weekend??

it's the long weekend! maybe I should throw a barbie!?!

i am so ready for it too. this week I stuffed about 500 envelopes by myself and was responsible for the death of oh, I dont know, an entire rainforest in photocopies. blah. I asked if I could leave early today to go and catch an earlier bus (see below) but they said no and I pretty got nothing to do today and so now am just exhausted, bored adn frustrated because instead of sitting here I COULD be at south station, I COULD be buying my ticket for the 2:15 nad I COULD be home by 7:30 instead of half midnight! GOSH.

anyways, I'm going home, and it makes me realize that I have yet to update about my LAST weekend home -- whcih was several weekends ago by now..

it went something like this:
excuse all the funny headings, I typed them up ages ago to remind myself to update and just enver got around to it...

HOME.

friday?
long bus ride -- this was abby's first trip to maine, and the four and half hour bus ride to bangor was mas o menos excruciating, mostly because her ipod died and teh first movie tehy showed was seriously a flop ... it was called Ed. and involved a fake monkey. playing baseball. at first the bus driver had it playing in french -- awesome! south station was a ZOO and I am not feeling incredibly over joyed about reliving that experience. I guess it's because I took the earlier buses all summer long that I didnt realize or maybe it's because the college students are back adn all wanting to go home for the weekend?? anyway. it was horrid. and sweaty.
,the fair!
pretty much no complaints about teh fair. after getting home at one in the morning we were up and out of the house by six thirty to make it to the fair by nine thirty. abby and I dropped mommy off at her friend's jewelery booth and then went and checked out the bunnies, and even caught most of the border collie demo which was AMAZING. it was fun to see them herd -- and Colin, the farmer's son (we assume??) -- was beautiful and amazing to watch as well.
the weather?
it was grey and overcast, but not rainy all day. and cool, with the occasional bits of sun breaking throuhg -- it was a PERFECT day for wandering around all day outside. and we were so ready for it with our little back packs all full of extra layers and...actually...mostly empty to leave room for buying stuff...which is a perfect segway to...
the poster artist and her friend in line behind us...
the lady who did the art for teh poster this year (which is SO pretty) adn her friend from california who came to see her friend and buy a tshirt and some posters stood in line behind us at the country store --- and I was pretty convinced that that meant i should buy not only a Tshirt, but also a poster to have signed. and we're oging to get a nice cheap frame at IKEA sometime and put it up in the kitchen, and I'm SO GLAD I DID IT! it's cool to meet people like that, and have a chance to talk about how they know each other and what they do. the fair is a great place for meeting people....
like gabs and margaret&gary!!! Abby and I got to hang with gabi for awhile which was AWESOME and we happened to run into my friends from Camino/post camino get togethers Margaret and her beau Gary -- yay! I hadnt seen them since LAST summer and it was nice to just know that they are alive and well, even if we didnt get to spend a LOT of time together -- any time at all was nice. there were also sightings of all kinds of epople from high school, such as Anne the amazing race walker from those days and dan baston of MSSM fame....
by four thirty though, abby and I were pooped beyond belief, and it was time to start the journey home. mom decided to drive home through belfast because it's so pretty and senic for my roommate, but as soon as she plugged in her book on tape we passed out sleeping all the way home, ALL the way, I mean seriously until home. well, I woke up once when we were going over the new bridge by bucksport -- but that was just a hazy foggy experience....however, it was exciting to get home with a sunburned face and chill with helen, take a shower, eat some dinner and watch a movie and go to bed EARLY.

sunday!?!
moms mood -- mommy was awfully crabby because she had a bad morning before her coffee -- that would totally put ME in a bad mood. but she made us some delicious mealy oats from scratch. nice. then we took abby to see schoodic, and I was SO excited to go adn see the finished sculptures from the sculpture symposium, and they were INCREDIBLE. I took pictures -- I'll put them on facebook soon. schoodic is just so pretty that it sort of hurts me to be so far from it all the time, but it also makes it special I suppose.
then we went to gmaws for lucnh, doing a drive by of the extreme home makeover house on the way. we ended up getting to bangor RIGHT in time to catch the bus and SO MANY PEOPLE were going to portland and boston that it was RIDICULOUS. and then there was another long ass bus ride.

we cooked a delicious meal for dinner at eight when we finally made it home (the T runs SO SLOW on sunday) -- mmm, we made some taco seasoned ground turkey and threw it in with some eggnoodles, salsa nad lots of cheddar cheese. so good! I also talked to camden and cleaned my room up a bit.

comeing back to work on monday was rough because it was upper school back to school night AAAH! AAAAAAH! AAAAAAAAAAAAH! which went smoothly, I think, but I was here until 9:00 pm -- whcih is a long long time, and the rest of teh week was exhausting...between back to school night, choir until ten on tuesday and the long busy weekend... I was drained.

gosh...that was long.
sort of like this weekend is long.
ENJOY THE LONG WEEKEND FOLKS!

work, home, fair, friends, hippies, bus rides, choir, boston, sunburn
