Holy cow, guys. I am actually attempting to make something pretty with paint.net. I'm using blends and gradients and it's terrifying. It's also crap, but hey, you have to start somewhere, right? I'm making it for a
whedonland graphics contest, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I like it, at any rate.
Today was my first day back teaching after a long winter break. My first class is a one-on-one adult conversation class with a very nice lady, who does hair and kimonos for Japanese weddings. She's very nice, but also very forgetful. I have gone to meet her so many times, and then she doesn't show. That means I'm out of my house and at work--but not getting paid for it (I only get paid for class time.) It is such a pain.
One interesting thing about my job is that all my time spent watching British television is being put to good use, since British English is the preferred form around here, and is generally what is taught in the textbooks. It's usually not an issue, since at the basic level there really aren't many differences, but every once in a while, knowing to say "full stop" instead of "period" or "zed" instead of "zee" is useful. Random fact: my car here in Japan is a Honda Z, but if you say Honda Zee people look at you funny and aren't quite sure what you mean, since it's a Honda Zed (or a Honda Zeddo if you have a heavy Japanese accent.)
