Lots of television releated things to talk about.
Veronica Mars - 2x14 "Versatile Toppings"
Did anyone think that this episode was a bit on the slow side? I was slightly bored and ended up watching a little bit of Blast from the Past on TBS. I was a bit disappointed in how Veronica, Logan, and Keith all had their separate storylines and therefore didn't share much screen time together (either Veronica and Logan or Veronica and Keith). I loved the look on Keith's face when he mentioned how Veronica was an easy person to get along with, though, hah. Also sad about the lack of Wallace, Weevil, and Cassidy. How can the writers give us all of that Cassidy/Mac goodness from the previous episode and not provide anything in this one?
The line about being the "master bait" from the pizza delivery boy was great, as were the callbacks to people and places from previous episodes (Cho's Pizza from "Kanes and Abel's", Carmen from "M.A.D.") Other things to note: that Kristin Callaveri girl, or however you spell her name, isn't a very good actress; I still can't quite tell what Logan's true intentions are regarding Hannah; Jackie is definitely a more sympathetic character now, but if UPN/the writers are so insistent on Veronica having a gal pal, couldn't it be Mac, as you can never have enough Mac in an episode; I like the fact that Dick's comment about being "rich guy Kryptonite" visibly hurt Veronica, as she may be much more stronger than your average person, but the comments from others can really sting her as well.
Bones - ?
I watched Bones for Adam Baldwin, and I have to say that the show isn't that great. Some of the scenes seemed forced (Temperance and Booth dancing to "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner), and the sound editing was really wonky (one of the latest Depeche Mode songs playing kind of loud when Booth and Jack (or is it Zack? God knows.) were closing in on Adam's character). And Nolita, hah! It makes me sad to see Kitchen Confidential, what was supposed to be Bradley Cooper's big break, reduced to FOX fodder that can be recycled for their other shows. However, I did see enjoy seeing Adam in his scenes. The man certainly knows how to look cool while holding a gun. I'm sure he's had tons of experience.
I saw a commercial for a new crime show called The Evidence while I was flipping through the channels, and all I can say is why, dear god, why? Don't we have enough of that stuff on the air as it is? Is the American public that thirsty for depicted murders and sex crimes as their preferred form of entertainment? Let's see, so far we have: Law and Order (x3), CSI (x3), Bones, Numb3rs, Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Without A Trace, Conviction, Crossing Jordan, and that's just the stuff that I came up with at the top of my head, as there are surely more that I've neglected to list. That's already 13 hours of programming dedicated to crime! Holy crap. Whatever happened to original and thoughtful characters and storylines where the objective isn't to trick or shock you as to whodunit? Sigh. I wish I had my Gilmore Girls dvds with me now.
