Dear Author,
All of the stories I've requested are personal favorites from my childhood, but don't let that dissuade you from doing whatever you'd like to with the characters! Have fun interpreting the legends however you see fit, and I know I'll enjoy them! Thank you so much for writing for me!
Stuff I Love:
* Romance. I'm a pathetic, hopeless romantic, and I love the process of watching people fall in love in a realistic, non-corny way, and something swoony'll always turn my head.
* Thus Romance tropes are a big thing for me; posing as married couples! Ridiculous date stuff! Badass teamups! Cozy nights at home! Babies and weddings! Pets!
* Smut. Consensual sex, especially informed by character, canon and personality, will always make me happy. But if you're not into smut or don't want to write it I adore gen with equal fervor that's absolutely equal because...
* Kidfic and family fic: Again, part of my love of slice of life/domestic fic.
* Big, sweeping historical epics with witty humor.
* Character-driven, heartfelt drama.
* Slice-Of-Life. I love it when characters interact. I love missing scenes. I love friendship and parental and sibling relationship dynamics. I love jumping into the headspaces of these characters post, mid and pre-canon and seeing what makes them tick. Therefore, I really enjoy watching characters go about their daily lives, hearing what they're thinking. Outlandish action epics are fun, but the ordinary staff of life I adore.
* AUs are always fun, as long as everyone's acting properly IC to their canon personalities.
I also like slash, gen and het equally!
Stuff I Dislike:
There isn't a lot that really disgusts me in a fic. In exchanges, I like leaving an author room to create what moves them, as much creative freedom as humanly possible.
I really only have a handful of things I won't read: my only caveat are that I don't enjoy noncon for the sake of noncon, chan/shota/underage smut, ws/scat or character bashing. Otherwise I'll read anything - any rating and any content at all.
One caveat - several of my requested canons include canonical rape, and if you feel the yen to write about rape recovery or explore any of the emotional complications related to it, feel free to follow your creative muse, if you feel the topic can be handled sensitively.
Fandom (1): Den lille Havfrue | The Little Mermaid - Hans Christian Andersen
Prompt: The legend says that the mermaid has to spend an amount of time that's long and varies in different tellings of the story. Tell me of the various deeds she and the Daughters of the Air do. What sort of women are these, her fellow daughters? What do they do with their time? Are their good deeds as simple as making a child laugh or as hard as settling a war? How do they change over the centuries, or do they change at all?
Alternately, how are the Prince and his bride affected by the disappearance of the little maiden they were fond of? Does her existence in their world make them better people or worse ones, or did she affect anything in their lives? Is the mermaid called to do a good deed that favors their eventual child, and does this assignment affect the mermaid - and do they even know it was her behind the machinations?
Do the Daughters of the Air have any dealings with the Sea Witch? Tell me of the Sea Witch's daily world; does she feel guilt for the bargains she arranges - or are they just business?
Fandom (2): Orpheus and Eurydice (Georgics - Virgil)
Prompt: Tell me more of their courtship; tell me of their reunion in the underworld. Some missing part of Orpheus' journey to rescue her? Or is Eurydice happy in the underworld, did she intentionally cause him to look back at her and keep her
The Orpheus matter is one of the most continuous moments in Persephone and Hades' marriage. Why? Does Persephone still retain Orpheus' musical favors after his death? Is there jealousy? A rectangle?
Fandom (3): Paul Bunyan (Character)
Prompt: Paul cut a huge swath through the middle of the country, or so we're told. What else did he create? What did he and Babe learn as time went on and their companionship grew long? Did Paul find a giant-sized person of his own to love? Tell me more childhood tales, what was he like with his fellow townspeople?
Fandom (4): Rosie the Riveter (Character)
Prompt: Give me all of the AU tellings. Is Rosie a magical creature set forth to encourage the American woman, or is she simply a housewife on the line waiting for her husband to come back? Tell me of the women she motivates. Tell me of those moments where she pushed back against authority and stood up for the righteous. What about her life after the war? Magical realism appreciated!
Fandom (5): Pecos Bill and Slue Foot Sue:
Prompt: What's it like when Sue finally comes down, if she does? What does Bill do without her, and what makes her so memorable to him? More tall tales of their time together? Sue's origin story?
Fandom (6): La Belle et la Bête | Beauty and the Beast
Prompt: This is my favorite fairytale, and I adore all sorts of different versions and tellings of it! Give me AUS, retellings, Belle-as-Beast, unusual reasons for her TO be considered beastly, etc. ANYTHING.
Take me inside of the chateau. Tell me of the long winter of Belle's pre-beast's revival. Give me missing scenes of their bonding. What if the beast had indeed died - how would Belle get on with her life, if she could, as normal after experiencing the castle.
Tell me of Belle's father's relationship with her mother before her death.
Or give me Beast backstory. Or tell me about Belle's youth. Tell me about her father. Was it a conventional upbringing or an unconventional one? History-rich stories would be interesting but if you'd like to give me a moon colony AU I'd adore that! Absolutely anything you can cook up would be welcome.
Fandom (7): Le avventure di Pinocchio | The Adventures of Pinocchio - Carlo Collodi
Prompt: What goes into the making of a Blue Fairy? Did she have other charges before Pinocchio? How did those missions go? Did she ever get TRULY frustrated by Pinocchio's guile-free bumbling? Once he's a real boy, does she check in on him?
Fandom (8): Der Rattenfänger von Hameln | The Pied Piper of Hamelin (Fairy Tale)
Prompt: Pied Piper origin story! And what happens to the children he kidnaps? What does he do with the rats he leads away? Heck, give me a story from the POV of the rats!
Fandom (9): Ala ad-Din | Aladdin (Fairy Tale)
Prompt: Aladdin, before or after his journey. What was his childhood like? How does he adjust to life as a prince?
Fandom (10): Prinsessen paa Ærten | Princess and the Pea - Hans Christian Andersen
Prompt: The amount of cracky porn you could wring out of the concept of a super-sensitive princess who has to prove said sensitivity to get a prince writes itself. But conversely: tell me of her childhood. Does she have a family? What sort of queen does she ultimately make? Does her family have to worry about bruising, too?
