I have totally been awol from both of my online journals for the past few months. Did you know that buying a house is not only expensive, but it takes up a lot of time, too?
Not only did we buy the house, we also decided that generic beige on every wall was not cool with us. So we spent about $300 in paint. We painted almost every room in the house. Wanna see?! Sure you do...
K, dining room. This is after we painted AND replaced the hideous chandelier. Yikes.
This is the "bedroom" that we converted into the piano room. It's off the foyer, which is a weird place for a bedroom, so it's close enough to the living room that Levi can play and I can enjoy.
Living room! This isn't the coolest part of the living room. But it's still pretty.
This is the pretty part.
My bedroom is my favorite of all the other rooms. It took for. ev. er.
This is what the bedding looks like with it.
I snagged the bed in a bag for $36. It was originally $199 from Linens 'n Things. SCORE. Did you know curtains cost a lot? I saved by getting mine at Ross or TJ Maxx. Mini-blinds are out of this world, too. I wanted to get the nice plantation blinds, but the cheap ones will totally work for now. :) Other things we need, like a formal dining room set to go in our currently empty formal dining room, haven't even made it to the top of the list yet. Neither has the big housewarming party.
It's a lot harder to unpack (we had to wait til after we were done painting and after Levi went to Guatemala for a week) when you also have to keep the house clean (as best you can) while also taking on new things. LIKE LAWN MAINTENANCE. Mowing the grass takes freakin' forEVer. We bought a push mower for about $250 when we bought some other stuff for the house. It's not even paid for yet, and I already broke it...lol. Let me start by saying that I used this thing like, what...six times? And then while mowing around the water meter grate in the yard, it catches one edge (that isn't flush like the rest of the grate) and I bent the shaft. While I realize that I just said "shaft", it's not really that funny, because it's not something that can be repaired easily. So basically I just screwed us out of $250, plus the cost of a new crank shaft and the life changing bitching and moaning that will come from Levi when he has to take the motor apart to replace the part. These are the joys of homeownership. ;D
Things with Levi are going well. We've been getting along really well. Things are going well for him at work, and keeping the peace is no longer a chore or even hard to do. Hooray!
I've been reconnecting with old friends. Spending a lot of time drinking beers by the pool with Shannon and Jordan. Drinking a lot of coffee. Still smoking a lot of cigarettes. I'm joining a gym here in town next week, so the smokes will go soon after, methinks.
Righto. It's after five in the morning. I think it's time for bed? Maybe.
