Daath Port

Cantabile frowned the moment she stepped off the ship and back onto hard dry land again. Normally, she preferred dry land, but returning here made her wish she could get back on the ship and just leave again.

But that wasn't really an option. Even she had to report in every now and then, no matter how much she didn't want to be here, or how little she was wanted here. Her division was in sore need of supplies and time off. She also had a giant pile of reports to deliver to various people.

That was the part she dreaded. She tried to think of any way she possibly could to not have to deliver the reports to Van personally, but that seemed to be an impossible task. If Van knew she was in Daath, he would find her somehow. It didn't matter if she sent one of her aides to deliver the reports, she would have to speak with him personally, he would seek her out.

Might as well get this over with. Who knows, maybe he'll be somewhere else and the reports can be left in his office and she could be gone again without any issue.

Or maybe she will arrive to merely find that Dist's lab exploded and took the rest of Daath with it.

Or maybe this was all just wishful thinking and a waste of time. Nothing happens by chance, only by hard work and effort. That was the most likely course.

Oh well, it was only for a week. Then she could disappear for months again from this place.

She wasn't so lost in thought however that she didn't notice that her second in command had walked up behind her. It wasn't hard to guess what he would ask. A certain number of men had to be left here to oversee matters as far as loading supplies and preparing for their departure again in a week. There was always so much to do when commanding the largest division among the Oracle Knights.

As was typical among them, she answered his question before it was even asked. "Pick twenty men to oversee loading the ships each day. We only have a week here, make sure everyone knows this and are ready to go by then. Then get your reports ready so we can leave for Daath within the hour. I'd like to get this over with already and get out of here."

If he was surprised at this, he sure didn't react. He probably wasn't. When it came to commands likes this, she was easy to predict, even down to the wanting to leave again as quickly as possible. They would leave again this very day if the men didn't need some leave time and they weren't running so short on supplies. "Yes, Commander!" he said before running off.

She had to smile a bit. Each of her aides was definitely a great help. She knew they would do their utmost to make sure she didn't have to be here for a minute longer than necessary.

She walked off to go make the necessary preparations for now to ensure they could indeed depart on time.

And she prepared herself for the inevitable meeting between herself and Van.
