The vampire attack last Thursday evening at the high school was most disturbing, and I'm afraid it raised a number of questions. Questions that desperately need answering as quickly as possible.
In fact -- and I'm hesitant to share this opinion -- I believe we were all lucky to escape with our lives.
What was most peculiar, and frightening, about the attack was the manner in which the vampires carried it out. They were methodical. Organized. These were not the random acts of violence we've become accustomed to here in Sunnydale the past few years.
If one can become accustomed to constant attack by the forces of darkness, that is.
In addition, the body armor the vampires wore proved effective against normal tactics.
Buffy and
Faith weren't able to dispatch these vampires at all, and in fact, I attribute their survival only to the fact that the vampires did not seem to be expecting a second Slayer, not to mention
Riley Finn.
This does not bode well for the future.
Perhaps I should consult with Riley soon. These vampires displayed tactics that were almost militaristic in nature. In addition, Riley was somewhat quiet in the aftermath, as if he were contemplating something himself. It might be in our best interests to compare notes before these vampires strike again.
