work, weekend, etc.

Only 30 more icons to go before I run out of space *g*. I suppose I should start delving into new techniques to get more inspiration, but I'm just not motivated enough for that right now. Besides, I've been asked to write some fic instead due to the definite subtext between Kira and Dax on Deep Space Nine (I don't care what anyone says, before the producers forced them into straight relationships, these two were DEFINITELY doing it after hours! They snipe at each other like old married couples do!).

Anyway, not a whole lot has been up. A couple weekends ago we threw a surprise party for my mom and it actually did remain a surprise. She had NO idea what we had up our sleeve. It went over really well, but we did buy too much chicken, and for a definite lack of other things to eat I was stuck eating chicken as well. Don't get me wrong, I like chicken, but I'm iffy about it on the bone unless it's home cooked (and even then my preference is boneless). I've gotten it out way to many times and it turned out pink next to the bone. Can we say gross?

Also found out after Memorial Day my shift is changing at work. My boss is trying to keep me from staying later then midnight, but apparently it's been a constant battle. Personally, I don't understand why they don't hire an IT person FOR doing backups considering *I* can't do anything with them if they fail...other than tell someone they failed. I mean as "important" as these are, and how they "can't" be run during office hours, what good does it do if you have one fail and can't re-queue it before office hours?

But...that's a logical argument. So apparently Production is now IT as well. Yay. I'm excited. Hell I can't even say I studied this in college, my intention was PROGRAMMING, NOTHING to do with a networking IT aspect. I HATED networking with a passion. I don't like the logic involved, and would rather have played with debug tools, I had no interest in the inner workings of how a Token Ring worked. Didn't care. Still don't care, even less so since there's no pay incentive involved (yes, I know, that's a pipe dream in and of itself).

So, a week from tomorrow my shift changes. To when, I don't know. And of course it's only a few weeks before we get the kids back at our house again. Oh well.

I have discovered a new passion to play in the kitchen. Only because when I'm bored I troll Food TV. Not that I NEED to do that, I NEED to diet, so I'm breaking out my Tae Bo tapes this week. I need to get in shape and I have NO desire to go to the Y by myself to work out. I don't LIKE doing it in the first place, if I didn't have a reason to stay I would get bored and leave and still be right where I started.

Oh, as an aside, why is it you can get anything from one of the THREE Sprint kiosk's in the mall, except of course what you need? I'm now forced to go back to the Sprint store just to get a stupid belt holder for my phone. Yay.

BTW, do NOT watch Aeon Flux. Ugh. It was almost damaging to the anime by Peter Chung. As much as I love Charlize Theron, I was very disappointed in Aeon Flux. It's fun to watch people defy physics in an animation, you CAN suspend disbelief for that. HOWEVER, it's near impossible to do it with real live people. I'm sorry, it's impossible to stop yourself from falling face first onto the ground by bracing your feet against rocks. ESPECIALLY when you throw in this thing called forward momentum in it as well. She was human, not an X-Man!
