There's a ringing sensation in her ears, and she can still taste blood in her mouth, but it doesn't matter. Because the blood is balanced by the weight of the medal hanging on her neck, and the ringing in her ears is dwarfed by the roar from the crowd in front of her. It stretches far into the distance, all around her, farther than she can see.
