I hope everyone that celebrates it had a very awesome Christmas today! Mine was pretty low-key but I prefer that to craziness any day of the week. My mom and her boyfriend and his son had spent Christmas Eve night at her boyfriend's house that he has in town (he lives in Illinois but his parents lived here before they died so that's where he stays when he visits. he and his son are super allergic to cats so they can never really stay here. we got a crapton of snow today, though, so they're having to stay here tonight) So I woke up and waited for them by watching the Man vs Food marathon. Once they got here, my mom made a big breakfast and we opened presents. I got the first season of Community, Sonic Colors (which is bugfuck crazy), Epic Mickey (which makes me redo shit over and over again but is otherwise cool), some giftcards, The Big Lebowski, a bunch of cardigans (yay dressing like an old man!), a signed picture of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, the first volume of X-Force when they killed most of the team and replaced them with what would be X-Statix, some socks and underwear and candy. Oh and my dad got me a Nintendo DS yesterday but I forgot to ask for any games so I haven't done anything with it, yet.
After opening was done, I pretty much sequestered myself away with my Wii and my Community DVDs. I feel kinda bad but I just have so little in common with them, especially entertainment-wise. like my mom thought it would be a fun Christmas card picture if everyone wore a jersey of their favorite sports team and I was like "uh...except I don't have one?" I'm a dork surrounded by decidedly un-dorky people.
Anyway, like I said, I watched a lot of Community today. I love that every episode has commentary, I love commentaries for TV shows, I find them really fascinating and often really hilarious. Community's have been really interesting to me, they're a lot more honest than most commentaries are. Like Dan Harmon is pretty open about saying what he did and didn't like in an episode, which is rare. Most commentaries have lots of "Oh that line, so good!" but not a lot of "Yeah, I never really liked this scene, I fought about it with so-and-so for hours about it." I also love learning just how much of the show is improv, especially by Jim Rash (the Dean) and Donald Glover. A lot of Troy's best lines are improv, like "I've got the weirdest boner, right now." Also his laugh during the commentaries is precious. My crush on him is seriously getting out of hand.
